Use Garbodor to shut down abilities, use Sableye to hunt for junk, and Darkrai to take prizes

Garbodor seems very counter intuitive to what makes darkrai so dangerous.

At least 2 of these decks made top 4 in the KO and one of them won. Night Spear makes Darkrai shine and Dark Cloak is the icing on the cake.

fair enough, It still seems wrong to shut off darkrai lol. But supposing that you are playing as if darkrai doesn't have an ability it would be sweet

But keep in mind that the KO had a 75-minute match time limit. So, it will be interesting to see how well the deck performs in the 50-minute match time limit.

Also, Dark Cloak is nullified when Garbotoxin is active.

Lastly, why no Absol?

I'm probably not going to play this in tourneys. Just making it for fun lol. Dark Cloak is nullified when Garbodor has a tool. Not when he's active. Also I don't run Absol because I'm already tight on space so...

I mentioned when "Garbotoxin is active," implying that Garbodor has an attached Tool.

Post-KO tournament, I've seen players still playtesting variations of this deck. the 2 main versions I've seen both include Absol. I do expect to see this deck at the upcoming Regional tournament.

Maybe I'll try to fit it in...

Edit: Dear God I forgot the Ace Spec

@TuxedoBlack, the point of the deck is more to set up then tank rather to be aggressive like Darkrai variants without Garbodor.

im sort of wondering about the importance of dark claw. Granted claw + laser + Virbank could be huge when attached to darkrai. Like 140ish, which does work out perfectly with the spread damage of the night spear for a 170. I just cant help but wonder if there is something else that could be better in this deck since you probably will toss a float stone on to darkrai instead. Since having that thing catchered out when garbotoxin is can be problematic, if it doesn't already have energy on it. With multiple darkrai out, there is a possibility that both of them wont be charged up. You could be stalled for 2 turns without a switch if one of them is sitting on a dark claw.

I would probably switch out for a super rod, to get back those sableyes, and if you do that you can also toss in life dew to just be able to sit on sableyes every turn and if they cant OHKO it, you can just junk hunt for life dew every other turn and get back other cards that will help your situation. All the while losing no prizes and slowly being able to set up your darkrais.

Granted computer search is such a good card. But with Sableye i almost want to say life dew is better, especially in this deck.

I kind of want to keep Dark Claw in there and not worry about getting Sableye back and keep Comp. Search for one reason: If I play this in a tournament I will go into time and lose if I Sableye stall. I need to use Sableye as a starter and start attacking aggressively as soon as possibe.

Not sure how successful the "tanking' strategy will work in the new 50 minute match format. A solid offense may very well be the best defense for this deck going forward. Time will tell.
