Before I start this thread, I want to get something out of the way:
-Do not mention Gengar LV. X
-Do not mention Gengar LV. X
-Do not mention Gengar LV. X
-Do not mention Gengar LV. X
-DO NOT MENTION GENGAR LV. X!!!
Thank you. The next Deck Discussion thread will be posted on Thursday, July 9.
Today's thread will be about Gengar (Stormfront) and Nidoqueen (Rising Rivals). Gengar is one of those cards you take precautions to counter, as its Fainting Spell Power could utterly destroy the Pokemon who KO'd Gengar. Only Special Conditions, damage counters, or effects that return the Pokemon to the deck/hand get around this evil Power. Gengar has two attacks. One can do a 60 snipe to anything with a Power for an energy. The other does 30x the number of Trainers, Supporters, and Stadiums in your hand. Most Gengars focus on the Power Snipe attack, also called Shadow Room. Nidoqueen helps Gengar by getting rid of the main counters to Gengar's Fainting Spell, those being Skuntank G, Uxie, and Crobat G.
In this and any deck discussion thread, the idea is to discuss the deck's possible techs, how it fares in the metagame, what Tier it is in, its counters, a good decklist for the deck, or just discussing the deck in general. Since this thread is about a deck that won Nationals in the Seniors division, you can also discuss why you think it won.
