I'm just getting back into the pokemon TCG, and I bought an emerging powers starter deck(the one with fighting and water), and some trainer cards to go with it. I've tested the deck, but it doesn't seem to work very well. I'd like to have a deck that is competitive for regionals, not necessarly win easily, but maybe place in like top 30. All of these pokemon are from the emerging powers starter deck I bought, so if there is a better version of the pokemon I could put in, please tell me, also, if you would recommend putting in different pokemon, tell me. I also still have all of the pokemon from the starter deck, so if I took something out that I should put back in, thats not a problem.

(1) Pokemon Catcher

(5) Basic Water Energy
(3) Double Colorless Energy

Once again, I just want this deck to be competitive, maybe get top cut or something. Also, I feel like I have an energy problem, thats the biggest thing I need help with, I feel. But, any way I can make this deck better would be appreciated. Stuff from any set really, as long as it is legal is fine with me, also, Noble Victories stuff is fine too. Anything I can do to make the deck better for regionals. Also, I havent played in a long time, so if fighting pokemon and water pokemon no longer get the job done anymore, you can go ahead and tell me that, but please tell me what I should switch out for them. As I have said earlier, every pokemon that I am running is from the Starter Deck for emerging powers with fighting and water pokemon, so if I should run the same pokemon, but with different attacks and stuff, list the set for me so I can go out and get it.

RE: Deck Help for Regionals

Ok you have 2 options

1) Focus on Krookodile
2) Focus on Gigalith

Once i know this i can help you further.

RE: Deck Help for Regionals

Ok, I think Krookodile would be the better pokemon to focus on mainly because of its ability. Someone told me to switch all the water pokemon out for different prints of the same pokemon, and switch the cinccino out as well. Should I do that, and will this deck perform well against decks at regionals, I may add a tornadus because it is colorless and it may strengthen the deck. I also originally had 2 rare candys, but I felt like 2 was too many because I only have 2 stage 2 pokemon

RE: Deck Help for Regionals

Which Cinccino is it? You should use the BW one. To make the deck better, and to be able to have an early attacker that hits for high damage, I'd use a 3-3 Cinccino from BW. It can do 100 damage turn to, and can help slow your opponent down while setting up your Krookodile.

To make room for it, remove the 2-1 Swanna. Swanna isn't very good, and Cinccino can hit for a lot more damage, without making you run a new type of energy.

Because you run less {W} Pokémon, switch out a {W} energy for a DCE. It will also help if you aren't able to get the energy you need for Cinccino.

RE: Deck Help for Regionals

ok, I will do that, is there anything else I can do to help this deck? Should I run different copies of the water pokemon? All of the pokemon are from the emerging powers starter deck I bought. And, should I do anything about trainers?

RE: Deck Help for Regionals

This deck just depends on the meta. Are you going to the NW regional, if so i can help

RE: Deck Help for Regionals

From the posts above I watered down the deck into an example of something you could maybe try for your regionals. :)

3-2-3 Krookodile
3-3 Cinccino
1 Tyrogue
1 Cleffa

2 Seeker
3 Rare Candy
4 Professor Juniper
3 Judge
4 Pokemon Collector
3 Professor Oak's New Theory
3 Plus Power
4 Junk Arm
3 Pokemon Communication
3 Pokemon Catcher

8 Basic Fighting Energy
4 Double Colorless Energy

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That uses multiple copies of cards you already have with a few added things. It's a pretty basic list that can play fairly well considering your resources. I've tried Krookodile, it's fun.
