Deck Ideas

I am new to Pokemon but have played Magic The Gathering so can probably learn how to play the game pretty well, easily and quick. So I am looking for some deck ideas that would be good for someone who would be just starting. Would like the deck to be good in competitive play. I like decks that you don't really see and are like counters of the best decks that are being played, like the Eveelution deck Dylan played in worlds if you saw the live stream, if there are any others. I like those types of decks, but any decks that is good for a new guy to get in to competitive aspect of the game I will take.

Plasma for starters. Cheap and effective. Pretty much the Pokemon version of RDW/ Then again, there is no control deck in Pokemon lately, everything's a different form of RDW lol.

Plasma - Fast and stable beatdown. Very consistent too
Blastoise - Slower and less stable but deals deadlier blows and easier to use than Plasma but will see a hit with the new set.
Genesect Virizion- Standard accelerate and shoot beatdown. A bit trickier to play due to main attacks discarding energy
Darkrai - Loses a card to the rotation but is still very good beatdown.
Garbodor - The closest thing resembling to a control deck (but it's more of lock tbh) it's just using Garbodor to lock abilities then using beatdown with Pokemon that are used by other decks. So basically Garbordor is a beatdown deck with a lock factor added to it. Less consistent than pure decks but the lock can get annoying for the opponents
 
There really aren't too many rogue/anti-meta options right now that are any good against a lot of decks. You could try Garchomp, but even that is a bit too slow.
 
Dylan's deck is probably the best rogue deck. Other than that, Garbodor is good anti-meta, as it shuts down Deoxys, Virizion, Darkrai and Blastoise (only their abilities) so you can use that. Like everyone else said, it's a but slow. But if you want a rogue deck Garbodor or Garchomp is probably your best choice.
