Decks for the 50 Minute Limit

So Everyone seems to be a little upset that there is a 50 minute limit now.. Soy we don't think Darkrai/Garbodor will be good anymore because its slow. My only question is what do you think WILL be good? Bastiose is slow as well, and that leaves two meta game decks left, VerGen and TDK. So is all we will be seeing at nationals those two decks predominantly? Just asking how yall think the time limit will effect us this year

VirGen is fast with Badge engine and mid speed without and TDK is fast so they will be in the most abundance. There will still be DarkGarb and Blastoise but they may go into time a lot.

Edit: And of course rogues. Rogue decks everywhere.

Wait, how is Blastoise slow? With BKEX, it really only needs three good turns to win. Nationals is a ways away, so there's no telling what we'll see there, but I think we'll see some Darkrai. Darkrai is kind of like Eels--it's just always been a good play. People don't have to play it with Garbodor, it's still pretty good without it.

Alright so let's get started! First off we have no way to predict the metagame of nationals right now so instead I will help you with the upcoming regionals.
Fast Decks:
TDK: TDK is just very fast in general and is also very consistent. It can easily comeback from a game 1 loss.
VirGen: Fast however it is not as fast as TDK. It can come back from a game 1 loss however not as easily as TDK.
Medium Decks:
Darkrai Variants: This deck can be fast at times however it can no longer be run as a more Sableye oriented variant. I feel that even the speed oriented version however can still be slow at times so yeah... The Garbodor oriented version honestly can't easily come back from a game 1 loss so yeah... You have to win game 1 with it. It's not impossible by any means to come back just very hard.
Blastoise: This deck is medium speed with a turn 1 tropical beach other then that this deck is very slow. If you run 3 beach though then everything should be ok.

Honestly I don't feel any of these decks are going to suddenly drop in tier due to the change except for possibly DarkGarb. All the environments it has thrived in have not been this limited by time.

I feel like blastoise should be fine. As soon as it sets up, it can start mowing things down every turn.

Blastoise should only have real issues in sudden death, which I doubt it'll go to. Blastoise generally gets behind early but can finish games at lightning speed once it sets up.

I think every deck is going to have an issue with time though; 50 minutes just isn't enough to play 3 full games of Pokemon. Time may become a factor in many, many matches, no matter what you're using. The faster the deck, the better chance you have. Plasma is the only true speed deck we have right now; and with Laser seeing a decline in popularity, it's not even THAT fast. I don't think there's a secret formula for beating out the time limit; just play quickly and realize that if you play a slow deck, time is a major issue.

First of all, I believe all of the top deck right now are still competitive and viable in the current game format. Some may have a "speed" advantage more than others, but the first game in many cases will/should consume most of the 50 minutes. I also believe very few matches will actually have 3 games played (excluding donks). What really will be interesting are the matches where a player tries to "extend" game 1 in which he/she is winning and then seemingly "slow plays" game 2... I'm more concerned about match shenanigans that some players will revert to during the 50-minute match.

If you do the math, 50/3 is 16 min and 47 seconds. The question is can you get your deck to face another deck and win the game within the matter of about 17 minutes? The answer is just to simply time a game and play the game at a comfy pace and see if you need to play faster or if you can take a little time to evaluate your options. Overall, its going to be more important to bring a watch to a tournament now more than ever.

I'm not keen on this time limit. I hope that after a few big tournaments they decide to increase it. I can play 3 games in the time limit more often than not but having the clock breathing down your neck is never a good feeling. I think we will see an increase in faster decks like Plasma and VirGen but I'm not sure that will make much of a difference in outcomes. Even if it takes Darkrai or Blastoise (or any deck for that matter) 35+ mins to win its still in their favor when time is called. I like the idea of Bo3 but if it's going to make a real difference (as far as rewarding more skilled players) then 50 minutes is just not enough time.
