RE: Delta Emerald [Unconfirmed Game] - Hopes and Expectations
I had an idea long ago about how they could fix the emerald issue in remakes.
And while I would still love to see it come true, it's probably even less likely than them releasing an actual Delta Emerald later. But here it goes:
BW2 featured an interesting bonus-unlocking mechanic: the Key system
The concept is, that reaching certain achievements in the game (like beating the game) would reward you with keys, which can be activated to change parts of the game. In BW2, there was 3 examples:
-Golem chambers: there is a cave where Regirock resides, but these keys can change it to a room with Regice or Registeel
-City: black city/white forest are version exclusive areas, but this key allows to change which city is in the game, including the houses and the battle facility in them
-Difficulty: this key changes important trainers teams (levels, moves, items) and their battle AI, and even adds pokemon they don't even have normally.
Another interesting part of this system was that these keys can be used to unlock them in someone elses game. (so if I have beaten B2 and obtained the challenge key, I can share this key with a friend who just started playing W2, and he can use it to make his game more challenging from the beginning)
That last part is crucial to my idea: the Emerald key.
It would work like this:
lets say I have AlphaSapphire. It has all the obvious extra features like Move tutors, the Battle frontier in it as expected. But the story stays true to RS, bar primal forms and new megas. Team Aqua does their thing, awakening Kyogre, who turns Primal and goes on rampage, I stop it, and beat the E4, credits roll.
This unlocks the Emerald key.
The Emerald key can only be used on a New game.
Meaning I can use it in 2 possible ways:
-Delete my Alpha Sapphire save file, use the key, and start a new game.
-get a second game, lets say Omega Ruby this time, bring the Emerald key over from my Alpha Sapphire, use it, and start my game.
in both cases, certain crucial parts of the game are now different. Some new entraces have shown up (like Magmas deep base in Mt.Chimney), events have changed or been added, crucial trainers teams adjusted.... essentially, I am now playing my game as if I had bought an Emerald remake instead of Omega Ruby.
The plot involves both teams in the proper places they belong, the climax is the legendary fight, Rayquaza is needed, in its own primal form no less.
That would be a cool solution. And it wouldn't be impossible (BW2 already tested the basics of everything that's required for this to be possible and that was on the previous gen-hardware!).
Just like in BW2, where all those places and different difficulty trainer teams and npcs are in both games data, whether the key is ON or OFF, it tells the game which data to access at all these specially marked parts of the game that can change.
Size is not an issue, not just because 3DS cartridges are big enough, but because there wouldn't even be that many multiple versions of the same places to begin with. It's mostly villainous hideouts, but just like BlackCity/WhiteForest, these are usually both in the data of both games anyway, even though only one can be accessed (in gen 3 and BW/BW2, entraces to these places were simply changed to lead to the other version of the area in the other game).
And it would also be a profitable solution for gamefreak, because people, who if this was the ACTUAL gen 3, would have bought 1 RS game and 1 Emerald later, could do the same here, buy 2 ORAS games, but play the second one as Emerald xD
