I have thought that maybe Dento could have Grass types, not because of the hair color, but he looks like he takes care of plants. (Lol)
Or Normal, because I don't think something else fits him. XD

I think he might use Electric-type pokemon. I know there's no obvious signs of electricity in his Gym like there are in previous generations (and yes, I know there's the rollercoaster/theme park Gym), but that's my guess.

Gym Leaders tend to have names related to their typing, and Dento sounds like it's partly from denki, meaning electricity.

I think it's Normal just because the questions in his gym don't pertain to any type. He might also have a THEMED gym, rather than a type. He might have Pokemon that help him serve things, like Gochiruzeru looks like a waitress, he might have that.

I think normal because we only had one other normal gym and a waitor seems like a normal type.

weve had 2 normal type gyms, not one
and just because dento has green hair doesnt make him a grass type leader. roark had red hair, and he wasnt a fire type leader

If you have seen the high quality image of his badge you can see three shaped gems. One is in the shape of a water droplet, another a leaf, and the last appears to be a flame.
This leads me to two possibilities:
1. He has a mixed team. Most likely having three pokemon, each one representing one of the types mentioned earlier.
OR
2. He uses the type weaker, not stronger, to the type of your starter. This way new players have a battle to adjust and get used to the new series. This would mainly benefit new pokemon fans. Just think of it as a better set up gym for beginners, in which everyone would have an equal opportunity.

Btw I apologize for any grammatical errors in this post. I am on my Blackberry.

You saw the drop and the leaf too?? YAY I'm not seeing things!

But I havent seen any high def image or whatever. . .

maybe he will just have one of each starter?

Yes it is as clear as day. Dento having one of every started would be quite neat. I thought about that but would that be a bit overkill?

The high quality picture is on Serebii. It is in the main news story.

That would also fit perfectly with the anime (though the games and the anime are not tied together) as Brock got the starter that was weak to Ash's. Ash got Treecko and Brock got Mudkip, so I don't see why this isn't a possibility.

I actually think the pic on Pokebeach is higher quality :)

But I don't think having all thre starters is overkill at all. It fits in with the badge and the question. Anyway, why would there be all three symbols on the badge if Dento only battles with one type? Since there are three distinctly different symbols I would think he battles with three different types.

He might not use the starters, but may use different type Pokemon that are based on the starter's types, like Gary/Blue did.

Yeah definitely!

But with Cheren and Belle both having the other starters, is there really a chance that you'll be re-battling more starters in your first Gym match? Seems a little repetitive, no?

A little, but we are actually saying now that Dento has one each of Grass, Fire, and Water but hey aren't the starters

My mistake! I think one of every starter type (grass/fire/water) would be great. It would be a great practical tutorial for people who are new to the game to learn about type weaknesses and resistances. And for those of us that are veterans, it would be a nice change from the boring old Rock gyms.

True but I don't feel like anyone in their right mind would need a tutorial on battling. . . it's fairly simple.
"Water, hmm that sounds like it should work well against this fiery pokemon. Oh and now i think i should use a Fire move on this leafy pokemon because fire burns leaves."

"Oh, look! Cheren sent out a Mamepato! You're up Tsutarja!"

*Mamepato uses Wing Attack*

*Tsutarja faints*

"...! What?"

=/
