Standard Despair Ray / Xerneas Break

I built this deck to try and shut down Espeon GX decks and whatever other psychic variant is run with it. It seems to be a very popular card so I wanted something to counter it hard, but at the same time have a good deck. I threw in Xerneas break for the counter of Giratina if that ever happened and Xerneas can be a very hard hitter if you have all M Gardevoir on the bench loaded with Geomancy.

If you could give me feedback on this deck and any suggestions for change please do! I'm most likely gonna be buying this IRL but I wanna make sure it'd be playable

I think the main thing I would worry about with this (and hopefully others will chime in as well) is that it will take all 9 energies for your Xerneas Break to ever be able to 1 shot anything and Xerneas Break isn't exactly the heftiest pokemon at 150 HP. I think it all really comes down to which pokemon you are planning on being your primary attacker.

If it is Xerneas, I would probably suggest a different partner in order to accelerate Xerneas Break's attack. Maybe something like Giratina to stack Double Dragon energy on it. Or something that could make use of Double Colorless Energy in order to help boost the number of energy on your board ASAP.

If it is M Gardevoir STS, I honestly think Xerneas will get in the way.

Those are just my opinions though. I hope someone else responds as well because I am also interested to see what others think :)

Oh ok I never thought about the energy count. Hmm
I do wanna run a Despair Ray deck but I don't know another variant to run with her instead of 4 shaymins. Do you think I should add more energies or just get rid of Xerneas completely?

Well, like I was saying, it just depends on your primary attacker. Sounds like you want to rock M Gardevoir. If so, you really can pick a lot to go with it, but the reason most people do Shaymen and Dragonite is because of the easy synergy between discarding, retrieval, and draw.

If you are looking to go outside that box, Xerneas is fine. Just be aware that you won't be able to really maximize either Pokemon's attacks and will need to stack more energy onto your benched Pokemon than a traditional M Gardevoir deck will run and be prepared to two shot things rather than one shotting them.

I've been playing Despair Ray a long time now, and in my opinion, people heavily overstate the necessity of 4 Shaymin in that deck. Three is sufficient, if you're able to get your hands on a 3rd one.

Try something like:

4/3 M Gardevoir EX
3 Shaymin EX
2 Hoopa EX
2 Dragonite EX
1 Rattata EVO

Other common inclusions I've toyed around with, and ultimately decided were not impactful enough to keep, are Spinda, Hawlucha, and Absol.

People will give you different opinions, but I think that above line is a solid core to build your deck around. The Rattata is essential, don't forget him.
