Prologue
Inteli Miarre walked between the enormous trees of Viridian Forest, silent. A young Ralts stumbled along beside her, tripping in the carpet of fallen leaves.
"It's good to be away from Saffron for a while, isn't it, Kyrith? But, something seems wrong..." she finally commented, looking at the small Pokemon at her feet. Kyrith cocked his large head, then nodded, slowly, cautiously. Then, a huge bang resounded throughout the forest, and wild Pokemon ran scurrying in every direction, terrified.
Inteli listened for any clues as to what had happened, and heard the slight murmur of human voices, chattering nervously. Another bang came, closer, and it sounded as if the sky had fallen. Inteli saw a man in a black uniform run by, appearing not to have seen her, then Inteli ran, spurred on by a trace of foreboding.
Just as she got out of the way, a tree fell, knocking away everything in it's path. Branches flew everywhere, and more Pokemon ran, horrified by something they had no knowledge of. Inteli gasped as she realized what was happening, and ran along with the wild Pokemon in horror, grabbing Kyrith when he couldn't keep up.
Rockets were cutting down the trees! Viridian Forest was believed to be the home of Mew, and considered a sacred place by many for this reason. "Team Rocket... in the forest... hurry!" she shouted when she reached the city, breathless.
Alan Miarre, Inteli's father, ran out of one of the small houses, heading toward Viridian Forest, with three other men following him. Inteli ran along behind them, unable to keep up, but determined to try. Several children ran out of the Trainer's School and stared after her, bewildered.
Almost to the other side of the forest, Inteli saw a circle of gigantic stumps, with branches strewn across the ground. Alan leaned against a taller stump, struggling to stand up with one broken leg. Inteli noticed that most of the Pokeballs were missing from his trainer's belt. "I'll make Team Rocket pay for this... if it's the last thing I ever do..." he growled.
Inteli would remember that day for a long time.
