Different versions of FA Legends. HOW TO TELL

only the pokemon itself is covered in a smooth gloss coating

The finish on the gray background one is not as smooth.

RE: Different versions of FA Legends?

cool i can not wait until i get the new one. i only have the glossy FA Zekrom and FA Reishram which looks better in your opinion

RE: Different versions of FA Legends?

yea, the matte finish and texture effect makes it feel like your running your finger over ultra fine sandpaper

there are no visible differences for reshiram as the white is still white

the zekrom however looks quite nice with the gray background. but the glossy black background looks good too.
comes down to personal taste

RE: Different versions of FA Legends?

The gray background looks better than black. The smoother finish on Zekrom looks better than the rougher one. So those 2 are equal in my book.

RE: Different versions of FA Legends?

I have both versions of Reshiram; I pulled the matte version first, so I was confused when I pulled the glossy-textured later. Personally, I prefer the matte finish, as it's more reminiscent of the textured surface of the Japanese versions (though still completely different).

RE: Different versions of FA Legends?

Hard to tell on Reshiram...one I got in my first box seems slightly more textured than the one I got in my prerelease packs. Zekrom I got in my box is the lighter background. All 3 FAs have come in the rare/holo slot.

RE: Different versions of FA Legends?

hey ogeray my freind actually use his rough zekrom, and reshiram as sandpaper then when we were done he gives me reshiram since i have black version and we do a epic sword fight at the end we were both too tired to finish each other off and he said "so its true that our power is equal" now that was a better use of those card in my opinion

Public Service Anouncement.

Hope this can clear up some confusion on Full art print versions.

its because zekrom has a very noticeable change. the black to gray background.

reshiram's background remains white, but the described differences are still there. just not as noticeable

Lol thanks for the update on your opening post. I saw the Beach article and I was like "Wait...this is still hard to tell..."

I guess it's the same for Reshiram?

1st Print = Shiny Background
2nd Print = Non-Shiny Background

yup. pretty much it.
although its REALLY hard to tell on reshiram since white just looks white

none of the boosters in my target have codes. So does this mean even blisters in stores can be 1st run?

just read. all the information has been posted multiple times

its not error. its different print editions.

all packs in retail stores like target and walmart all dont have codes, which means its the first printing, which means youll get the black glossy FA zekrom or reshiram

I pulled both type out of non code promo packs.

so i guess they also second printed non-coded boosters

its going to make it much harder to tell which fa your going to pull now.

is it safe to say that all coded boosters have the 2nd print run?

LOL so true xD

I guess you can still pull the 1st-Print FA Legends from Blisters, Tins & Promotional boxes of packs (e.g. Victini Collection Box) since those packs don't have codes. So the 1st-Print Zekrom & Reshiram FAs aren't that limited...

I honestly don't think the codes have anything to do with it...that's just what I'm gathering from this. It just seems coincidental.

dmaster out.

ive pulled 8 FA, 4 of each print run, and ive seen my friends pulled multiple FA, from different print runs also
the only way to tell which one your going to get is to see what print run your booster is from.

thats where the codes come into play as most of the non coded packs are from the first print run,for the most part atleast. and the coded packs are from the second print run for the most part.
and its just as likely that PUSA printed some more non-coded booster packs in the second print run.

but overall, if you open a non coded booster- itll most likely be from the first print run.
and if you open a coded booster - its going to be a second print run. guaranteed
