BW/BW2 Dislikes in Generation V

Sometimes it isn't always about poor IV's it may also have to do with the Pokemon's Base Stats as well.

Base stats are fixed, you know them because those stats depend on the species. IVs are uncontrollable and completely probabilistic.

they usually don't matter unless you really need it for a specific stat

But that's precisely the point, people want specific good IVs for specific stats. I once bred over 100 bagons in emerald just to try and get an adamant salamence with god attack IVs. It was insane.

If you don't have the time and patience

Well 5 years ago I might've had that kind of time and patience. Alas I don't anymore... The game wasn't really designed to be competitive-friendly per se. That's why people had to invent things like shoddy battle.

Too lazy to quote but just c/p-ing some stuff

a) Lack of rutes:: So, first point I dislike in 'BW' is deffinetly a lack of rutes. Route 1 -> Karakusa Town. Route 2 -> First Gym. This bring really to ending the game very quickly.

Just because the first Gym is in the second town doesn't mean the game is going to be over fast. Considering the leader's strongest Pokemon is level 14, has Cheer Up (which is just trolol considering it boosts both attack stats so it can always take advantage of one of them) and always has a type advantage against your starter means you're going to have to do some serious grinding if you're going to want to stand a chance at winning, and God help you if you chose Oshawott. Pansear is all but useless against, well, everything until around level 23 or so. Even though you only travel on ten official routes before getting to the Elite Four, you still have eight more after you beat the Elite Four, not to mention all the dungeons in this game are huge and take a good half an hour at least just to get through for the first time, and that's assuming you're spamming Repels.

c) Easy Leaders:: Anything more to be said?

I'm in agreement with this, there's really no excuse for this. I should not be able to get through an entire gym based on an immunity, and the Gym Leaders really oughta be prepared for this and not just go "welp gg" against their weaknesses.

c-m: I have never thought about the bridges but now that you mention it - yeah. They're kind of annoying. Losing touch screen controls (read as: auto-Running Shoes) was pretty lame, all six buttons could have been mapped on one side of the touch screen.

---I also do not like catching Pokemon at points in the game where they will still take a decently long time to evolve (like catching Cubchoo at Lv 27 when it evolves at Lv 37)---

Do you realize that this happens throughout the entire game? Even on Route 1, you can get Patrat at level 2 at the lowest. That's 18 levels before he evolves. Though you need less experience to go from 2 to 20 than 27 to 37, the point is that you will never find a Pokemon before beating the Elite Four that evolves by level up that is close to evolution on capture unless it's not the first area in which you find said Pokemon. Ten levels is pretty average anyway and be thankful you're not raising the dark dragon. It doesn't evolve until level 50 and then not again until level 64, which means unless you grind, you are never going to have his last form, and if you do, you're pretty much gonna be done with the postgame anyway. Have fun doing nothing with your new dragon. Not to mention you get the Lucky Egg forced upon you after you get five badges, which means you have no excuses. Leveling up in this game is cake if you haven't beaten the game yet.

I really HATE it that pokeballs are put within your item bag, and not in a pokeball bag. Feels like it's the bag from R/B/Y again.

From playing my friends Japanese game, I hate the bridges too. I hate that there aren't any trainers, and like Heavenly Spoon said, it isn't 1996 anymore so we can move on a get better 3D graphics, eh? But, I'll still give props to them from how far they have come since the original ones.

I don't like the whole camera changing angel in Castelia City.

I'm also not a big fan of the new Pokemon, some of them are just... to out there for me I suppose. And a lot of their names just sounds like they mixed old generations names with a different name, amiright?

I don't like the Running Shoes not being able to turn them off, but whatever.

That's my two cents.

No, you're not.

What I do dislike is lack of bag organization, I understand that they wanted to make it feel like Kanto in terms of mechanics but it sort of ruins it a bit.

I don't like some of the choppy graphics, but their reasoning for doing this is probably to upgrade this with the 3DS standards.

Also, when people first judge a game they look at the graphics. By displaying the 3 dimensional depths of Castelia City and the bridges people will buy the game. I don't find anything wrong with hat.

Yeah definitely major turn-off. When an improvement is made to a game mechanic, choosing to take a step back is just plain wrong.

Ive never really judged pokemon by graphics. Like Chess or Minesweeper, I don't consider the graphics in any of the gamefreak pokemon titles to be significant enough to weigh in as factors. It'd probably be more significant with the genius sorority titles like battle revolution.

Yeah, basically everything Spoon and PMJ said. The graphics are overrated to the max, quite a few of the gym battles are easy, and the lack of rematches is a major bummer. They didn't exactly take the game to the full potential, but it's still all-around a good game and I suppose I can make a legitimate decision on whether or not these drawbacks actually have an impact when I get my hands on the games.

1. Lousy fully-evolved starters. They look great and have pretty good movesets, but terrible types. I'm tired of Fire/Fighting types, and I hate monotype starters.
Some extremely high level amounts to evolve Pokemon.
I mean, seriously, walking across an empty bridge where the only thing happening is the camera angle changing from time to time is supposed to be fun and engaging now?
Lack of VS. Seeker. Well, that is kinda lame

Basically, all this. Plus, the fact that it seems the wild pokémon give less experence points compared to previous generations, making it harder to level up... at least, in the beginning.

and @Card Slinger J: Drapion has nothing to do with Scolipede (Pendra). One is based on a scorpion, the other is based on a centipede...

Let's not forget that it's entirely possible they're saving some of these features for the third game, such as the ability to rematch trainers/leaders and better graphics.

I don't like the fact that some Pokemon evolve at ridiculously high levels. I mean, Komatana (Pawniard) evolves at level 52 into Kirizikan (Bisharp), and Jiheddo (Zweilous) evolves at level 64, meaning you have to do a stupidly high amount of grinding, and that's assuming you caught it at lv.40 in Victory Road as a Monozu (Deino).

And I think that there are about 2 too many bridges. I only really like the Sky Arrow Bridge out of all of them.

Not to set high expectations for Grey, but I hope that GF realizes that they could do just so much in the next game in terms of features, plot, graphics, etc. Some of the "missing" features of B/W seem just a tad bit odd to be missing in these games; they don't feel like features that would be left out :3

So uh. Yeah. What PMJ said.

My main disappointment is how high the levels to evolve your Pokemon are at now!!
Sazandora's evo line's FIRST evolution is at level 50, and then it evolves AGAIN at level 64.
CRAZY HIGH!!
I wanna have fully-evolved pokemon BEFORE the Elite 4 please! D:<

My friend days the graphics get a bit annoying and that she wants it to be back to the DPPt days.

@XieRH i love that video
