Do people always complain about the meta?

One thing I would like to point out. Everyone is terrified of Catcher ruining the game, but the truth is, it's a good thing. Everyone was already using Reversal before, and that card was more unfair because half the time your opponent always got heads while you always got tails. Catcher just makes it involve less luck, which is the biggest problem in this format.

your never going to not complain about the meta game i mean theres usually always something wrong with it.

Then there are those people who complain about others who complain, when they are just hipocrites in themselves. (And when not in the public eye, probably complain just as much as the rest of the people.)

That isn't exactly a "ruin the game" factor, it's more a "rage" factor. =P
But yes, this is true. I think that Catcher will actually be a benefit to the game, allowing new strategies to be built around, allowing for more diverse play and more educated players, in general.

Short answer: Yes

Long answer: Yeah, pretty much. The time where there was hardly any complaining was when Dragon Frontiers and Power Keepers were released. They did a really good job with the meta and the Holon Engine - they (for once) created a slow metagame. Since then they've made it faster and faster. Back then turn 3 setup was the equivalent of a T1 setup now - the fastest decks would setup T3 but not manage to do much late-game damage. However, we're seeing EX reprints and we're getting Rocket's Admin back so it could be a sign they're bringing it back.

My only complaint is that at my leagues I see the same meta-decks over and over. No one wants to branch out and chooses to net deck. It leads a boring environment. But at the same time it helped me build a deck to play my areas meta. So if anything I can thank them for helping build a deck that shuts down a majority of decks here.

I guess I should be thankful at my league that everyone plays outrageously fun and working decks.

I've seen Samurott, Mewbox, Reshiboar (his list during MD-on was hilarious and one time actually forced me to deck out), Volbeat-Illumise (lol), Vilepluff, Donchamp, Serpclus, Gengar (my contribution)...we have it all.

And we even take those decks to tournaments, and we do well with them. I'm not sure if many of you are familiar with the California Masters meta, but it's just as challenging (if not more so) than Ohio and Florida, since practically every good deck is represented.

Pokemon players do complain a lot about the format, no matter what format is current.

However, this format is actually reasonable to complain about. Honestly, it's stale. DNA hit a gold point.
The format is stale. We have about five or so good decks that outclass everything, allowing for NO new ideas. Reshiram Emboar/Typhlosion, Magnezone Yanmega, Donphan Yanmega, Zekrom, and Magnezone Emboar. And notice how most of them contain either Magnezone, Yanmega, or one of the Dragons? We have a few overpowered cards in this format that allow for nothing else.

So, in short, you will get a lot of complaining, but there's often a reason behind it.

/rant

Yeah, stale. Then what do you call the format where it was LuxChomp or Gyarados and 90% of the decks had Sableye?

I honestly like this format a lot. I actually get to sit and play unlike before you sit and watch yourself getting donked once every two or three games.

Catcher is also like a gift from the Pokemon gods. Stop whining, it's a very good card for such a flippy format.
