That's probably just a lot of fan speculation, I'm pretty sure there would be cutscenes in the storyline too, or the storyline would just look like the same blocky thing it is.

Don't really understand why anybody would be against it. It's something different and breaks up the visuals a bit (at least during the important parts) so that you aren't staring at sprites all day long like we've been since R/B/Y.

But then it wouldn't be the classic RPG style, which is what GameFreak wants. When they want those graphics, they go to the home console.
