Ruling Doom News Question

Absol's Doom News attack requires you to ditch all the energy attached to him. Return, or discard. (cant remember)

Then at the end of your opponents turn, that pokemon is KO'd.

Does that still happen if they retreat?

If so, how does this attack EVER work?

Im not sure, but if they can retreat to heal it you maybe able to find a pokemon/trainer so the pokemon can't retreat. I think theres one that does that.

Just so you know, they go into your hand. Not discarded.

Whenever a defending Pokemon retreats / is switched by an effect, all effects on that Pokemon disappear, unless stated on the card otherwise. If the defending Pokemon leaves the active zone, it will not be knocked out by Absol G's attack.

Another thing to note is that Unown G prevents the effect from happening in the first place...

As far as I know, it wouldn't cancel the effect of Doom News, but I could be wrong.
