Ruling Double Battle

I did a search for this using the search function and nothing difinitive came up so I create thread, sorry if this has been asked and answered somewhere else ^.^

I remember quite a while ago when the first Ruby and Sapphire cards were coming out and was getting info on some of the name rules and game mechanics and whatnot and, ever since then, I've always had something unanswered:

During this time, I remember reading up somewhere about Double Battles within the TCG where you would have two active Pokémon and only four at most on the bench. I've searched and searched and searched and can't find anything on it. I guess I just wanna put my mind at rest cos I've experimented with different ways how I could work and I can't figure anything out. Can anyone please help? Is this an actual conecpt within the TCG? If so, how exactly does it work? Or am I just remembering incorrectly and have just come off as really stupid?

Thanks regardless ^.^

Double Battles are real concepts, but they are very uncommonly used. Only Single Battles can be used in tournaments, so it is for casual play only. You'd usually be hard pressed to find someone that wants to do one, since most people are deck-testing, ergo they need to do a Single Battle.

These are the rule differences:
Single Battle Rules/Double Battle Rules

1 pokemon active/2 pokemon active
5 pokemon bench/4 pokemon bench
1 attack per turn/1 attack per turn
6 prizes/6 prizes

Thank you so much ^^ least I know I didn't dream it lol

We don't get tournements over here in the UK so all I do is casual play with my brothers, cousins and friends, just looking for a way to spice things up a bit, a bit of a change you know?

Anyways, more question:

Say I have as my active pokemon both Gardevoir and Crobat and my opponent has Breloom and Furret (just for talking sakes), is there any specific way to decide who attacks and what they attack? Or is it just up to the players?

To add on, when you attack unless the text specifies so then you have to choose one of your opponent's Active Pokemon to attack, not both. If an attack does damage to both of the active Pokemon (in some cases like spreading moves allow that to happen) then it targets both of the Defending Pokemon. This includes Poke Bodies as well (like Flygon SW) If something states to attack all Active Pokemon in play, it does damage to your opponent's 2 Active Pokemon, and your other Active Pokemon. Unless the text says you can, most of the time an attack like that won't damage the user.

^What's above I know may not be totally right, but a brief idea.

So, out of curiosity, if I use Yanmega LA's Sonic attack, which deals 10 damage to the active and 10 damage to each of my opponent's Pokemon on the bench, do both of my opponent's Active Pokemons receive the 10 damage, or only one of them do?

Only one recieves the damage, as you have to choose which pokemon to attack, and then do 10 to only benched pokemon.

You also mulligan until you get two basics.

Mulligan? Is that where if I don't have a basic Pokémon in my hand then I re-shuffle, draw 7 new cards and my opponent draws... 1 or 2 extra? I vaguely remember this, but, mostly thanks to the SP Pokémon, it's been a long while since me or anyone I've battled with hasn't had a basic on the first go.

It's one card extra for each mulligan you get. I'm not sure if this is changed in a double battle, but I don't think so.

dmaster out.
