It seems that with me getting back into the game a LOT of my friends are wanting to play as well. So, we have decided to all pitch in for a draft.

My question is:

What would be the most desirable sets/setup for a fun and tournament-esk type of draft?

How many people? Because we have 6 so far. And how many packs and of what types?

Well you could get 10 people and then there are 5 matches, then the winners get points, and then there are another 5 matches and the winners get points, and then a final 5 matches and the winner gets points, then the 4 highest pointers battle, then the 2 winners battle, and then maybe you could win 5 packs or something :] Hope i helped

I like the idea it is just like a real tournament.
 
That system is fine. But what/how many boosters would we need for a good draft like that?
 
typical booster draft has minimul 8 people
5 packs per person
40 card decks
swiss pairing matchups

good sets to draft from, HGSS, Triumphant, and CoL
 
Thanks so much for all of your help. As it stands it looks like we're going to be doing 6 players with 5 boosters each. We'll be using CoL. Though... I'm not sure if it's a set that I necessarily like. I would have preferred Triumphant.
 
triumphant is an awesome draft set...call of legends, not so much. mostly because triumphant would help you along a lot better after the draft.

Well, we drafted CoL tonight, and it looks like we're doing it again tomorrow night running Triumphant. So, a little more money yes... But we might as well since the card shop we go to gives us discounts.

I pulled a bunch of shiny stuff and whatnot from CoL. But I think I'm going to trade them off for cash towards more Triumphant since that's what people are wanting most anyway.

I got my butt handed to me by a Vaporeon/Flareon build. I was running Ampharos. Oh well, I came in second at least.
 
Cheapest and most common way to do it is 8 people, 3 packs each, making a deck of 40. Best way to do it is 8 people 5 packs each, 60 card decks.
 
a 60 card deck draft is a bit clunky imo

40 card drafts are faster and work more smoothly. they are also easier to build given the amount of packs you get. gives you more of a focus build.

5 packs for 40 cards are pretty good. 6 packs are better.
we also give out prizes for top 3, like the pre-release booster drafts
