Don't know, I have the feeling my son is looking at other decks that work and putting a few cards from a lot of decks in his. So I doubt he has a strategy.... ;)

My son is playing this at the moment and he would like some help to upgrade his deck.
He said it feels like Dragonite isn't doing it for him?

this is because in order to use Dragonite to it's fullest potential, "bust in" needs to be used, I figure your getting on the right track with the mega Manectric and Virizion. I would take out 1 or 2 Dragonites because with 3 in there, you have a pretty good chance of it appearing as your starting basic. I would take out energy switch and switch as well because bust in works better than switch and mega Manectric has free retreat. Also if you play your energies right then you don't need energy switch. I would also use some head ringers in order to increase Manectric EXs attack. I would also add another set of 1/1/1 Manectric/mega/spirit link along with another Verizon. And I would cut out Shaymin EX I don't see the point of it because Verizon does almost the exact same thing but with damage.
 
Tropius with Silver Bangle is actually a really good Toad counter if you are already playing Grass Energy. It one shot's Toad, it's not an EX so it only gives up one prize AND they can't attach Head Ringers to it, and it has an attack that draws, so it's not the worst to start with. I personally like Battle Compressor in Manectric decks. You can get Energy in the discard pile, a Supporter that you can get back with VS Seeker, and you can thin your deck of stuff you don't need any more / irrelevant techs.
