Standard Drampa Garb for Memphis

I've decided to play Drampa Garb for Tennessee because it's the deck I'm most comfortable with, as well as it being a consistent deck when it comes to how every game plays out. Here's my list:

The Hoopa is an interesting inclusion I made for the sole purpose of playtesting. It's the only flexable space in the list, I'm 100% sold on every other card. After testing Buzzwole, the 10 Damage from Rainbow mattered a lot more than I thought. And with Latios, I didn't like investing a DCE on a Pokemon with that low HP. Hoopa does the same thing as Latios, but for a single Energy attachment, but unlike Buzzwole, it was only worth 1 prize.

If you don't fancy Latios try Buzzwole-GX. It has much higher HP and will attack for 1 Rainbow. Other than that, you have a great list and good luck at your tourney!

I was playing Buzzwole, but because of Rainbow putting 10 damage on it, it was super susceptible to Celesteela GX's Tower GX, Berserk, Gardy didn't need the extra energy, the same amount of items in my discard pile for Garb to OHKO as Hoopa (Choice Band being a factor), and being a GX didn't help against Silvally, which occasionally plays a single Psychic Memory. I think the hardest matchup for this deck is Silvally by far. Celesteela helps in every possible way against Gardevoir, and takes one less space than Espeon-GX. But I just can't get the Silvally match down. They build such a large ray of attackers while withering down mine. I'm expecting the 2 most popular decks in Memphis to be Gardy/ Max Potion and Silvally variants. I can beat Silvally on paper, but the actual match plays out so different.

Why don't you try Shining Jirachi as well as Espeon EX? Shining Jirachi lowers your opponents options (like Rare Candy usage) of getting another Stage 2 (like Gardevoir) and it deals damage. Combined with the STS Hoopa (which I really like as a tech, nice find), Shining Jirachi can hit 60 HP if needed (20+40 {Stellar Reign+Choice Band). Overall though, nice list. I wish you luck in Memphis!

Well, don't forget about Po Town. Actually, maybe I'll play Shining Jirachi over Hoopa, since Choice Band+Po Town damage means I'll be devolving something with 70 damage on it, knocking out all evolvable basics except for Type: Null, EX Pokemon, and Wailmer if I'm not missing something. I'll test it

OK, I really like Hoopa. Choosing any 2 Pokemon on your opponents' field instead of just the active and a benched allows for more shenanigans, and offers a clean way to get past Cobalion early game against Silvally. I think I have my 60 cards I'm playing. Only thing I would consider now is a Lillie or Hala, because dead hands where Garb disables Lele can really suck. But because I play 4 of almost every non-Pokemon, consistency problems may just be a problem because of bad shuffling, resulting in really shitty clumping.
EDIT: does anyone know when we're supposed get the promo Trashlanche Garb with the alternate art? I like it, and I want it.

I've seen a few people play one copy of the SUM Oranguru for late game Ns (even though Garbotoxin counters it). If you really want, you try fitting one of those in (though another draw supporter would be nice). The promo Trashalanche I thought was only exclusive to Japan's set like how USA gets the League stamped cards (like Volcanion or Oricorio). I don't know if it will be released in the USA at any point, but I hope so. I'm also a Trashalanche player (though not as much as before) and I would like a few of those for my deck as well. Hope this helps, thanks!

Usually, we get those japanese promos. I'm thinking it will be a blister promo, likely for ULP. I don't like the thought of Oranguru for a few reasons. One being, like you said, Garb turns it off. Garb turning Leles off is the problem to begin with, and adding another Pokemon that works the same in the same scenario while taking a deck space isn't great. Psychic is cute, but Lele does the exact same damage, but with a smaller cost.

Sure, especially when you can just play a Supporter in place of Oranguru. I think I'll try and find the news on the Japanese Garbodor somewhere on here. If I do, I'll let you know what I find. Thanks!

Overall, your deck is well designed for consistency - and "consistency wins games." Following are just a few comments (reflecting my personal preferences more so than any deficiency in your deck) for your consideration:
  • How often have you "missed" (e.g., out of 20 games) not having a Special Charge for your special energy recovery and recycling?
  • Did you test Tapu Koko (Flying Flip)? If so, why did you choose the Hoopa over the Tapu Koko? Was it solely due to Hoopa's better energy-required-to-attack factor?
Very nice deck.

Good luck in Memphis!

Hoopa's Energy factor and extra HP. I haven't found myself ever wanting a Special Charge. By the time I might want one late game, my opponent already has the game in their hand, or I'm able to take my remaining prizes with a Trashalanche or two. I have tested Koko in the past, and it was super underwhelming in the early stages of the game when you consider the fact you're spending a DCE on it. I prefer Hoopa because I can not only not spend a DCE on it, I can spend just 1 Psychic Energy on it. And usually I only need to put damage on a couple Pokemon, so I'm not really missing the extra Koko damage. And although it may sometimes not matter, having 20 more HP than Tapu Koko or Latios can be the difference between my opponent getting an early game lead and me getting the extra Energy attachment before Hoopa getting KO'd. If Koko dies early game and my Drampa only has 1 Energy on it going into my turn, then they can trade more favorably because I'd (in theory) be behind an Energy in my board state, and that can matter a LOT if I whiff a Berzerk.

The format's changed in the last few weeks, and I think it would be best to drop Hoops for a Stardust Jirachi. Stardust combined with Ability lock is super good, and it pressures Guzmas while stalling a turn that I can use for manual attachments. It's also a hard counter for Brokenvoir, which is definitely something I need, since Brokenvoir's BDIF going into Memphis

Cool, I think that you should find something else to remove since Hoopa is your only source of Spread damage (removing the need for Espeon EX since your opponent will most likely never allow 60 damage with Po Town). I think that you should remove one of the Po Towns for Jirachi instead, but that is just my opinion. The Celesteela GX is an ok counter in itself, so I don't think that Po Town is required as much (due to Choice Band+Celesteela GX=240).

I was thinking about this anyways, but wouldn't Latios SHL be better than Hoopa? I know that it requires a DCE, but that 30 damage plus Po Town hits 60 HP (enough for devolution with Espeon EX). Just a though, could be considered.

Latios is really good, but costing a DCE really hurts. I feel like 4 Po Town is the only way to go, since I absolutely need it in play if I'm trying to use Espeon to steal those last prizes. I also really like having it out on my second turn so I can get the max possible damage if I get the Energy for Berserk. Something I could consider would be to drop Celesteela AND Hoopa for Latios and Jirachi, since Celesteela is just dropping a DCE attacker for another one. But at the same time, Hoopa's 130 HP is super duper good, since It's out of Zoroark, Golisopod, AND Silvally's range. Decidueye also needs to invest an extra Feather Arrow to get the KO.
