RE: Eclipse, The Story of One Man and the Apocalyptic Future

Chapter Four: Nemesis

The sun shone through the cracks in the ceiling above the two sleeping men. Zack smeared his hands across his face in an attempt to relinquish his sleepiness. He turned to his still-sound asleep friend and shook him a bit.

Delroy turned stomach side-up and stared at Zack, still half-asleep. "Wha-what is it?" he said in his half New York-half Southern accent.

"We have to go down to the sewer. Brown's orders" Zack replied. He had no emotion on his face, but inside he was curdling with rage. "Come on get up. The faster we do this the faster we'll be out of this hell-stricken town.”

Delroy managed to pick himself up from the uncomfortable, rough surface he had been sleeping on. It was still early; Zack was hoping to strike James at an unexpected time and get a cheap kill, although from his past experiences with the shadow man, it wasn't going to be that easy.

The two made their way across town to the sewer entrance where Skylan was living. On the way there, people looked at them with fear and anger in their eyes, as if they were part of the blame for this mess.

"Seems like we've made ourselves known around town because of your-our abilities. This ain't a good time to get a bad reputation, especially in our town where the person next to you could have twice the abilities you've got" Delroy said.

Zack opened the sewer entrance allowing the disgusting and rotten stench to exit and roam freely through the town. "Cover your nose" Zack said with a chuckle and jumped in, with Delroy following suit.

Their footsteps made echoes through the sewer tunnels allowing anybody from even 100 meters away to hear their presence. Zack lit up a flame on his hand to light the way through the dark tunnels.

Suddenly, they came to a dead end. There were a bunch of posters and signs plastered onto the wall with "DO NOT ENTER" written on them. "Doesn't look like a dead end to me. If it was a dead end, there would be no need for these damn signs" Zack said. He charged a small fireball in his hand and backed up a few feet away from the wall. He lunged the fireball at the wall, creating a small explosion, but big enough to break down the wall.

They entered the hole they had made, surprised that they were actually right. The tunnel continued, but only for a short while. They found a small camp area big enough for one to two men.

A man came through the clearing that Zack and Delroy had just made. "Clever idea, but I won't let robbers steal my things" he said.

Zack and Delroy turned around, but before they could see the man, he was gone. "Skylan? Are you there?" Zack asked.

The man sprinted in an incredibly fast speed and grabbed his two swords. He put one against Zack's neck and the other on Delroy's. "What do you want from me?"

"Put the weapon down. We mean no harm" Zack said calmly. "We share the same goal. You want to kill James. We do too."

Skylan moved the swords away from the mens' necks. "And how did you know I was after him?"

"Devin told us. The guy you 'scratched' up" Delroy responded, before Zack could.

"Devin? Now why would I scratch up the only guy keeping my wife alive?" Skylan said. "These swords have yet to hurt anybody. I am saving the first blood for James."

"Son of a-, he lied to us this whole time! All to do his dirty work!" Zack thought. "And if that isn't how he got his scar, identical to Delroy's, then how did he?" Questions raced through his mind, but he turned to look at Delroy who seemed to be as confused as he was.

"Looks like he played a trick on you, so it seems. But I wouldn't mind help taking him down. You guys do know what you're up against, right?" Skylan asked.

"Trust me. I've been against this guy before and he's a force to reckon with. But I don't understand one thing. Yesterday he was fully vulnerable. You had a perfect chance to zoom in and cut his head right off…but you didn't" Zack said.

"I was hunting down a time traveler, a powerful one for that matter. Only today did I get the orders to hunt James. Are you one of his workers, too?"

Zack was shocked; his fist closed, the rage piling up inside. "He has your loved one too? What the hell is he up to?"

"He's got me getting blood samples of people with powers. At first I refused, but when he told me he had my wife, I had to comply with what he wanted."

Delroy laughed, finding the whole situation comical. "That's funny cuz he's got us doing the same thing."

"Then let's be on our way, we don't want to give him more time to get away."

The darkness lifted off of Skylan and his face was perfectly visible. He was old, full of wrinkles and white hair plastered over his small-sized head. He picked up a small necklace on the ground and put it in his pocket.

Skylan sighed. "It was my wife's. It's all I've got to keep my memory of her…" A small tear drop sprinkled down his face, but he wiped it off immediately.

As they group made their way to James' hideout, Devin and Brown were talking to each other.

Devin and Brown stood in a small laboratory, filled with tubes and computers and different kinds of buttons. "Is everything going according to plan?" Brown asked.

"Perfect, sir. The space-time continuum is flowing. Things are going just as they did before" Devin replied. "The three have acquainted themselves and soon, James will be dead and we won't have to worry about him meddling."

"And then we'll have creation, for the future that you foresaw, and that same one that we won't let happen" Brown said. "Soon we'll gather all of the powers we can get and then…well, we will create our super soldier. Our super beast."

"There he is" Skylan said, pointing at an intersection of the three tunnel openings. He had two men with him, each covered in a ski mask to cover their identities. "I'll super speed and cut them all. Just stay here."

Skylan pulled the two swords out from the pockets on his back. He ran to the intersection and hid in the shadows without any of them seeing him. "You know, hiding in the shadows isn't so smart when you're facing someone who manipulates shadows" James said.

James locked eyes with his foe, freezing Skylan in the shadows. "Even a man with incredible speed cannot kill me. Not in my territory, at least" he said. He put his palms out facing towards Skylan. "So sorry to see you go like this. It really is sad."

The shadows became darker and thicker, suffocating the trapped man.

"We gotta go do something, Zack!" Delroy exclaimed.

Zack charged a fireball in his hand and blasted it at James' henchman, setting him on fire instantly. He fired a second one at the other henchman and it had the same effect.

James turned to see the disturbance, freeing Skylan from the shadow hold. "So you didn't die? I guess I'll have to teach you a real listen this time!" His hands turned into shadows and extended towards Zack. He wrapped his palm around his neck, shadows releasing and engulfing themselves around Zack.

"Zack!" Delroy exclaimed, trying to grab the shadowy hand, but his hands only went through the shadows.

James' other hand became shadows and extended to choke Delroy. "Wow, I expected much more. Fools don't deserve to live!"

Skylan regained consciousness and grabbed his swords that he dropped. "Expecting this?!" He jumped up and put his sword on James' neck. "You're dead!" He pulled his arm back and extended it again, puncturing James in the stomach. The sword cut through the appendix causing it to erupt. Skylan pulled the sword out and lunged again at the top of James' head. His head cut in half and the extended shadow arms disappeared and returned to regular sized arms.

The body fell to the ground, motionless. Zack and Delroy gasped for oxygen and slowly stood up. "Is he down?" Zack asked.

He nodded and fell to his knees. The shadows were gone and a small, but harmful hole became visible in Skylan's chest.

Zack ran over to Skylan trying to help him up, but it was no use. He was as good as dead. "As much as I hate do this, but I was ordered to" Zack said. He pulled out a needle and extracted the blood sample from Skylan's wrist.

"Heh, it was all a trick" Skylan said, with a cough in-between his words. "Should have seen it coming. In my honor, kill me with my sword."

Zack trembled and slowly moved his hand toward the sword. "I…I can't do it!" he shouted.

Suddenly, a figure appeared from one of the tunnel openings. "If you can't man up to it, then I will" he said. He walked over to Zack and Skylan and picked up the sword. "Good working with you." He slashed the sword across Skylan's face, killing him instantly.

"Devin! Why did you tell us he was the one that slashed your face? What other secrets are you going to keep from us?!" Zack shouted, bursting into a rage.

"None anymore" he responded. The three gathered themselves together and Devin put his hands on their shoulders. In a flash, they were gone.

"Welcome to the lab. If you could, put the blood sample on the table right over there" Devin said. "Brown, they're here."

Brown walked through the doors to the lab. "Good to see you guys are still alive. Let us show you…our project!" he exclaimed.

Devin cleared his throat, trying to get Brown's attention. "Brown, if you can, could you see me outside for a second?" The two exited the lab, leaving Zack and Delroy alone.

"Why have they brought us he-?" Delroy asked Zack, but his sentence was cut short by an explosion. Smoke covered the lab; the two inhaled it into their lungs, making them cough.

The smoke cleared and a tall, skinny figure appeared in the light. It was at least seven feet tall and cloaked in a big jacket and long hood covering his face. Only its glowing green eyes could be seen.

"Who are you?" Zack asked.

The figure ran towards Zack and placed his palm on Zack's head, paralyzing him in place. "Ahhhh!!!" Zack screamed out.

Delroy looked around the lab and tried to find something to stop the figure. "The blood samples!" he thought and ran over to them. He grabbed a handful and injected himself.

His body began flashing brightly in different colors. "Ahhh!" Delroy exclaimed. "My body can't handle all of these powers at once!" Delroy blasted a blue aura blast from his palm at the being, releasing Zack from its hold.

"GRAHH!" it screamed. It ran to Delroy, but Delroy's strength was far more powerful than that of the creature. Delroy punched the creature continuously and the hood fell off, showing a creature with a green face, clear of any wrinkles or marks. The creature squirmed its way out of Delroy hold and ran out of the hole where the explosion occurred.

"Delroy, what did you do to yourself?!" Zack shouted. Delroy's body was still flashing with aura and other bright colors.

"I can't control it Zack! Helllppppppp!!!" Delroy screamed in pain. "I…I can't control myself!" His body exploded into a flash of aura, blinding Zack.

When the flash of light and aura dimmed down, Delroy was nowhere to be seen. "Delroy? DELROY?!!" Zack screamed.

Devin and Brown ran back into the lab. "What in the world happened here?" Brown questioned.

"Where's Delroy?" Devin asked.

Zack shrugged, still in shock of what just happened.

Delroy opened his eyes and looked up; all he could see were tall buildings and two airplanes. He got up, only to see himself face-to-face with Agent Brown. But Agent Brown was ageless. He had a wrinkleless face and what used to be white hair was now vibrant brown.

"Brown? Agent Brown?" Delroy asked.

"How do you know my name? Are you from the agency?" Brown responded. His expression was clueless, unaware of who Delroy was.

"It's me, Delroy. We work together. You hired me! Don't you remember?"

"I'm sorry, but I'm drawn to a blank."

"…where are we?"

"New York City."

"What year?"

"1976."

Delroy took a few steps back and looked at his hands. His body was under control; wherever the powers were, they weren't in his system, or at least under control. "I don't understand. Is this a dream? The last thing I remember was fighting off some sort of creature!"

"Sir, you don't seem mentally stable. Let me help you. I'll take you back to the agency. Maybe they have some answers."

"NO! I want answers NOW!" Delroy exclaimed. Hollow spheres of energy began to form in his palms out of anger. "I saved my best friend and this is the payment for my deeds?!" A purple force field began to form around him.

Brown fired his gun, but it was blocked by the force field. "There's a problem! We have an active super soldier! He must have escaped from the lab. I need reinforcements now!" Brown spoke into a small device hanging from his ear.

"Tell me Brown, how do I get back to my time?" Delroy asked as he grabbed him up by his collar.

A helicopter flew overhead of him, dropping soldiers armed with guns. "Put your hands in the air" one of the men in the helicopter said through the megaphone.

"The hell with you" Delroy said and fired one of the hollow spheres at the helicopter. The impact caused the helicopter to erupt into flames, causing the helicopter's remains crashed onto the soldiers it just dropped.

The impact with the ground causes another explosion, hitting Brown in the process. "Weaklings. Foolish, foolish weaklings" Delroy said. The powers he got made him into a different person. "Looks like the powers I took morphed the powers I had before. My power…is unimaginable." He closed his eyes and concentrated, and disappeared.

Brown looked at the destruction around him. He could barely feel his legs; the cold treacherously wrapped itself on his body. "Ahh. We-I need emergency help. Send a chopper right away! Soldiers and civilians are dead and the culprit is gone. I repeat the culprit is gone!"

"Zack, who attacked you?" Devin asked.

"He was a tall man and bald. His face was completely green and clear of any marks. No facial hair, either" Zack explained.

"I told you he wasn't dead" Brown said. "The leech is still out there. He must've already drained the powers of countless people that were hit by the meteor's effects. We're in deep trouble. We told them we exterminated him years ago!"

"Then it seems like we've got a new target on our hands" Devin said.

"You still haven't told me anything! What is this all for?" Zack asked.

Brown cleared his throat. "We're creating…a super soldier. Devin saw the future. An apocalyptic one. We won't let that happen. Whatever tries to kill us won't with a super-powered soldier with hundreds of powers."

"So that's why you need me. To do your dirty work. Why don't you give me the powers? My body is already fit for powers" Zack suggested.

"Don't you see what happened to your friend Delroy? Just because you have powers doesn't mean your body can handle more" Brown said and glared at Devin. "We need to artificially create a being that can handle these abilities without dying."

"If you want to keep me working, then you better show me Rebecca, because there is no way I will continue working without some proof" he said. "For all I know she's dead!"

Brown led Zack into a small room. Rebecca lay down on a small bed, completely unconscious. Her usual long blonde hair was now short and brown.

"What have you done to her? Why?"

"It was part of the side-effects from what we gave her. We put her into a coma. She will only awaken with another pill" Brown responded. "But don't worry. When the time is right, we will awaken her. You need to focus on your next target, though. We'll try to see if anybody else spotted him. When you do find him, be careful and try to dodge all of his attacks, because if he lays one hand on you, you're a gonner. He paralyzes you and drains your life, and worst of all if you have a power, he takes that too. We call him: 'The Leech'."

RE: Eclipse, The Story of One Man and the Apocalyptic Future

As you requested, the nitpick:
Lenny said:
"We have to go down to the sewer. Brown's orders[,]" Zack replied. He had no emotion on his face, but inside he was curdling with rage [Ehh... Can't say I love that sentence]. "Come on get up [No pause in between the two commands?]. The faster we do this[,] the faster we'll be out of this heck-stricken town.”

Delroy managed to pick himself up from the uncomfortable, rough surface he had been sleeping on. It was still early; Zack was hoping to strike James at an unexpected time and get a cheap kill, although from his past experiences with the shadow man, it wasn't going to be that easy.
[Simple statements. Nothing striking.]

The two made their way across town to the sewer entrance where Skylan was living. On the way there, people looked at them with fear and anger in their eyes, as if they were part of the blame for this mess.

And that's as far as I can go now. I'll fix the rest when I get back.

RE: Eclipse, The Story of One Man and the Apocalyptic Future

AFTER A LONG WAIT CHAPTER FIVE IS HERE :D

Chapter Five: Backtrack

1976

“Venire qua, Massimo” an old man said. His white hair blended in with his pale face which wasn’t a common Italian facial color. “Ho una missione per lei. È un uomo americano. Potrebbe essere utile a noi, soprattutto dopo che ha tolto venti soldati tutto da solo.”

Massimo, the person who was called over, stood over the old man. “Who is this American man you speak of and what is his specialty?” Massimo asked. Massimo starred at his palms. Electric balls of energy formed in his hand, but then faded out.

“What did I tell you about using your power here?” the old man said, this time in English rather than Italian. “I can shut your power off at any moment I wish, so I suggest you do as I say. We need this man; he could help with the resistance, especially because he has a reason to join us.”

Massimo looked at the computer screen in front of him. The image of Delroy was plastered on the screen and a few other pictures of the destruction he had caused. “Where do I find him?” Massimo said with his Italian accent.

The old man picked up a folder with many papers in it and handed it to Massimo. “Everything you need to know is here. Bring him back here alive. I have plans for him.”

Massimo lowered his head and tilted his backwards as a sign of respect. “Yes master, as you wish.” He exited the room with the folder tucked in his armpit.

The old man got up from the chair he sat on and put his palm up against the computer screen. At first, nothing happened, but then computer screen became all white. His eyes also turned white; his pupils vanished.

Massimo got into his car and placed the folder of files onto the passenger seat. He placed his palm against the radio and the car turned on. “Don’t need a key” he laughed and drove to the airport.

He arrived and opened the folder. There was a plane ticket in it and his instructions: get Delroy and come back. There was also the plane ticket for Delroy and Massimo for the way back, if all went well.

The trip from Italy to New York City was 7-8 hours. During the flight, Massimo slept to regain all the energy he needed for his mission.

The plane landed and Massimo hurried to the exit. He had brought no luggage because he was told this mission would take no longer than one day.

Massimo pulled out his cell phone and dialed his master’s number. “Sir, I am in New York City. Where should I look for him?” he asked.

The building above Massimo exploded, sending shattered pieces of glass falling towards Massimo’s head. Right before they were about to hit Massimo, they stopped in mid-air. Delroy appeared before him as if he was expecting Massimo’s arrival.

“Come with me” Delroy said and put his hand on Massimo’s shoulder. They both disappeared from New York City and reappeared in an old, run-down apartment. “This is where I live…in the future. I saw you in my visions and you brought no harm. What is it that you want?”

Massimo took a second to comprehend what had just happened and noticed he was still holding the cell phone against his ear. “Never-mind master, I have found him” he said and turned off the phone. “I have been ordered by my master to bring you in. He says he has answers for you. He says he knows why you’re here and he has something planned for you.”

Delroy shrugged. “I’m in need of answers, so I guess that there’s no harm in going. Where are we going to?”

“Milan, Italy.”

“Think of the exact place in Milan, Italy. Imagine it in your head.”

Massimo nodded and did as he was told. Delroy put his hand on Massimo’s shoulder and they teleported instantly.

The old man was startled, but regained his balance. “Good job, Massimo. You’ve done great work. Sit down, both of you” the old man said. “Delroy, I’m here to provide you with answers. What exactly is your ability, though?”

“I’m not exactly sure” Delroy replied. “So far, I can teleport anywhere I want, I can create force fields, move things with my mind, and I can see visions of the future.”

Yes, exactly what I had planned” the old man thought. “Can you tell me what you saw in the future?”

“I’m not exactly sure” Delroy repeated. “I saw destruction, but it wasn’t for this time. It was from your future, my present. It was the enemy that I encountered before I was sent back in time. He was…powerful.”

The old man chuckled. It was the first time Delroy had seen him crack a smile. “I have reason to believe that this person you saw is working with those in project ‘Super Soldier’.”

“The agent I encountered yesterday…when he called for assistance he said I was an active super soldier” Delroy said. “Maybe he got me mixed up with someone else.”

“Hmm, possibly” the old man responded. “Delroy, I’ve brought you here for a reason. I see visions, like you, of the future and its endless possibilities. I’ve also seen that the man you encountered earlier is out to kill people like us. Hunt us down and take away what’s special in us. But we’re stronger than them. We can take out hundreds of their soldiers without even breaking a sweat. This is what makes us special. This is why I need you and Massimo. I’m an old man and my time is soon coming to an end. I need you two to fulfill my destiny.”

Delroy nodded his head. “I’m finally part of something. A place where I can fit in…” he thought. “Where is our first target?”

“There are no targets. Only one man needs to be taken out so we can win this assault and set free all of our super friends” the old man said. “Agent Brown, Orwell Brown.”

Massimo and Delroy left the room after obtaining a briefing on their mission. They drove to the government building, analyzing their surroundings.

“Why don’t we just blow up this whole god damn place?” Massimo asked.

“Don’t be foolish. Master said that we have to find prisoner X12. We need that prisoner alive or else Master will have our-” Delroy stopped talking as they were approached by several man pointing guns at their heads.

“Come with us, visitors. You’ll fit in nicely with prisoner X12, won’t you?” The men grabbed Massimo and Delroy and handcuffed them.

“Why don’t we unleash our powers?” Massimo asked.

“We could. But then all the guards will be on us. We’ll escape once we’re inside the facility. You’ll shut down the electricity as we quietly escape and get prisoner X12. Got it?” Delroy said.

Massimo nodded and was thrown into a cell, along with Delroy.

“Alright, initiate the plan now?”

“Yes, do it.”

Massimo charged up electricity in his hands. A sudden burst of electricity exerted out of Massimo’s body and shut down all of the electricity in the holding facility.

“Let me handle the rest” Delroy said. He charged a ball of hollow energy in his hand and threw it at the door, creating a large hole in it; big enough to allow them to escape. “Now that was easy.”

The two ran out and Massimo lit up the way. “Cell X9…X10…X11…X12!” Delroy said as he ran up to the cell. He threw another energy ball to destroy the door. “Prisoner X12, we’re here to save you.”

Massimo turned on the light in the room using his powers. “Who are you?” the prisoner asked.

“We were sent by someone to save you. Please, come with us!” Massimo exclaimed.

The prisoner shook his head. His eyes were filled with fury and rage. The ground shook beneath them, creating a crack in the ground. “WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT DO YOU WANT WITH ME?” His fists closed and the tremors continued.

“My name is Delroy. This is Massimo. We are here to bring you to a safe place. If you don’t come now, we are all dead!” Delroy shouted.

The prisoner fell over and fainted, causing the tremors to stop. “It just can’t be easy, can it?” Massimo said and grabbed the prisoner, putting him over his shoulder. “Come on, let’s escape!”

When the three reached the entrance of the building, there were bodies piled on top of each other. Bullet wounds were visible in the deceased. “This looks like a trap” Delroy said.

“Welcome, Delroy. I believe we met in New York City when you nearly blew my foot off” Agent Brown said. “But now, your journey comes to an end.” Without hesitation, he pulled out a pistol from his inner jacket. “You’ll feel the pain of my soldiers who risk their lives every day for the security of this country. THE SOLDIERS YOU KILLED!”

The gun fired. Massimo’s body fell backwards, dropping prisoner X12 on the ground, too.

“You son of a-,” but before Delroy could charge an attack, Brown held up a device. “AHHH!!! What is that NOISE?!”

Brown laughed. “And I thought you’d put up more of a fight. This device shuts off all powers around. Now give me prisoner X12 before I blow your brains out.”

Delroy crouched down and looked at prisoner X12. “Delroy…I can defeat them. But I don’t have enough power. Bring me the radiation injection in their office.”

“I can’t. They have me pinned. They can shut off your powers too” Delroy whispered. “Wait a second. What about my meteor fragment? This is the thing that gives me my powers. Maybe it could give you some sort of super charge.”

Delroy grabbed the meteor lodged in his arm and pulled it out.

“What are you doing, Delroy? I asked you to throw prisoner X12 to me.”

Prisoner X12 grabbed the meteor and lodged it into his chest. “AHHH!!!”

“Disobeying orders?” Brown asked. He pointed the pistol and Delroy and fired another bullet, but a wall of dirt arose from the ground and blocked the bullet. “Oh hell no.”

“Run Delroy. I can handle these guys” the prisoner said.

“Before I go, why are you so important to them? And to me?”

“I can’t explain it right now. Go, now!”

Delroy tried to teleport out of the building, but he couldn’t. His powers were completely shut off. “I can’t, that device!”

The prisoner’s fist closed like this did before. The ground cracked open under the agents, dropping them into a pit of doom. “And now, for the finale!” The prisoner slammed his two fists together and the ground closed, crushing the agents in the pit. “You want to know why I’m so important? They say I’m the father of a super being. A being so powerful that it could destroy the Earth with a single use of its power. Can you imagine?”

Delroy was puzzled. “Of course this super being must have been taken care of by someone, because the time I come from had no problem of this kind. What’s your name?”

“The name is Charles Westbrook.”

“No way. Zack’s dad?!”

“I think you have me mixed up with another person” Charles replied. “Unless…you’re talking about my son from the future? This is getting a little complicated.”

“I need that meteor back. I need to try to go back to my time! It’s the only way I can stop Zack from destroying the world!”

“Whoa there, who said anything about giving this back? I need this power. It gives me such a…rush!” Charles exclaimed. He punched the ground, creating a small earthquake. The ground rose beneath Delroy and bashed him into the ceiling. “I’ll catch you later.”

Delroy’s vision faded. He closed his eyes and drifted off into a deep unconscious sleep.

A hand extended out of the ground covered in dirt. The hand bended back and pushed down on the ground to pull the rest of the body out of the ground. Agent Brown wiped the dirt off of his body, placed one hand on each side of his head and twisted his neck back into place. “Damn fool.”

He walked over to Delroy, picked him up, and placed him over his shoulder. “I’ve got a surprise working for you,” he muttered to himself. He walked into a small laboratory with needles and serums scattered across it and a big chair stood in the middle. “Welcome to existence, Project Devin.”

“Do you have the meteor fragment?”

“Yeah, I’ve got it” Charles responded.

“Good, hand it over.”

“Whoa, who said anything about giving it to you? Do you know how much power I have with this thing? I suggest you don’t make me angry,” Charles said and raised his palms, causing the ground beneath the other man to shake.

“You don’t even know who you’re messing with,” the man replied. Red, stringy hair covered his head and dripped all the way down to his shoulders. “Give me the meteor or this will get ugly quickly.”

“I’m not afraid of you!” Charles punched the ground, creating a large crack which quickly opened into a ditch. “We’re in the middle of a desert. I could bury you under thousands of pounds of sand and nobody would know. Nobody would care.”

“Except you can’t,” the man replied. His eyes began to glow fire-red. Flames engulfed his body, setting on fire his clothes and all other items on him. The flames crawled inside his mouth and spread across his organs. His body transformed into a living, breathing human flame. “I think you’ve underestimated me.”

Charles raised his arms into the air and a large piece of the earth lifted in front of him. “Take this!” He extended his arms forward and the earth flew towards the man.

The man’s eyes glowed purple and a second before the attack struck him, he lifted his palm into the air and the piece of earth stopped in mid-air.

“How did you…? More than one ability?!” Charles exclaimed.

“You idiot.” He placed his hand on the piece of earth stuck in mid-air. “You can have this back,” he laughed. The piece of earth flew towards Charles twice the speed as before.

The attack crashed into Charles, pushing him back 20 feet and knocking him out cold. The man laughed and walked over to Charles’s body.

“Easier than expected, Charles Westbrook. I hope your son will be more of a challenge” the man laughed. The flames dimmed down and his body returned to its natural state.

The man’s eyes glowed purple and he teleported to Master’s hideout, the place where Delroy and Massimo first met. “Hello, Master. It’s been a while,” he said.

“Lyle! What are you doing here? You…you died years ago!” Master exclaimed.

“Yeah, that’s what you thought, wasn’t it?! Left me to rot! Once they found out I was alive, they tested their experiments on me. It morphed my true ability, the only unique thing about me. Now, my powers are infinite. At any moment, my brain can allow my body to perform any ability in existence!” Lyle said. “My powers are endless, Master. And for leaving me to die, I’ll make you feel the same. Except you WILL die!”

“Control yourself Lyle!” Master shouted. He charged up an electric ball in his hand and threw it at Lyle, but Lyle tilted his head a couple inches to the left and the ball missed by just a half a centimeter.

“I can’t be controlled,” Lyle said. His eyes glowed in a static-yellow color. Electricity shrouded his body, circling and spiraling around him. “I can do exactly what you can do. Only stronger!” Lyle pulled his arm back and charged electricity in his palms. “DIE!” He pointed both of his palms at Master and released his electricity.

The electricity surged through Master’s veins and made contact with the electricity already stored in his body. The two different types of energy collided with each other, causing Master’s body to flash bright yellow. “I swear on this. My children and my children’s children will kill you. I swear on it!” The electricity burst out of his body, causing an implosion that created an explosion.

What a pity. All of these enemies and none of them put up a good fight,” Lyle thought to himself.

“Delroy, wake up! Can you hear me?!” a male voice said.

“Wha-who’s there?” Delroy said, rubbing his forehead and eyes. His vision was still foggy and he could not make out the figure kneeling over him.

“I was sent by Master. He told me you were in trouble. He also gave me a meteorite. I don’t know what it is or why you need it, but hopefully you can make use of it. Brown’s agents will be here any moment, get yourself together!” he said and shook Delroy.

Delroy grabbed the meteorite out of the man’s hands and placed it into his body. A pulse of energy drifted through his body and awoke him fully. “Dear Jesus,” Delroy said. He put his hand on the man’s shoulders and closed his eyes. The two were teleported away to Master’s hideout.

“So what’s your name mystery man who saved my life?” Delroy asked.

“Just call me Leech. It was my name at the ability prison and it’s what I’ve gotten used to,” Leech replied.

“Glad to meet you, Leech. Where’s Master anyways?” Delroy asked. He turned to the left and saw a human arm lying on the ground. “Hey, look at this, an arm and a trail of blood.” The two followed the trail of blood until they reached the remains of their Master.

His other arm and his head were ripped off of his body. His stomach was opened, his intestines hanging out from the opening, and a blood puddle covered the ground around his remains.

“Holy…Master was murdered” Leech said. “My father was murdered!”

“Master was your father? I’m so sorry. Don’t worry, we’ll find out who did this. I promise. But for right now, I need to get back to my own time. Do you know where your dad kept his medicine?” Delroy asked.

“Yeah, in the bathroom in left drawer. Why?”

“Your dad told me that the medicine he takes gives him a supercharge of power so that even at his old age, he can use his power effectively. What if a person who can use his power effectively gets a supercharge? It should give me enough power to return to my own time!” Delroy said.

“But you promise you’ll be back to repay me. Help me find my father’s killer.”

“I promise.” Delroy sprinted to the bathroom and opened the left drawer. “Only one thing in here, how convenient.” He opened the box of pills and swallowed one. “Goodbye, Leech. I promise we’ll see each other again one day.” Delroy closed his eyes and concentrated and thought about his own time.

When he opened his eyes, he found himself in the place where he injected himself with abilities. “I can’t believe it. It actually worked!”

Please return soon, Delroy,” Leech thought to himself.

“Hello, Leech. Long time no see,” Agent Brown said with a gun pointed at Leech’s head. “I see your father is dead. I’m sorry for your loss. I truly am. But we can’t have you meddling with our plans anymore.”

“You killed him, didn’t you?!” Leech shouted. He turned around and glared into Brown’s eyes.

“Your ability doesn’t work on me. I am invincible, indestructible. In fact, I didn’t kill your father. We assume it was someone who also had bad relations with your father, but who didn’t? Your father pissed off a lot of the wrong people” Brown laughed. “But you know what they say. The enemy of your enemy is your friend.” Brown pulled the trigger.

Leech fell to the ground, blood dripping out of his forehead. He lay on the ground still, just like his father.

“Mission is over squad. Every single super soldier is now dead.”

RE: Eclipse, The Story of One Man and the Apocalyptic Future (Chapter Five is up)

*bump*

Anyone? :(

I like it. It's interesting, but unfortunately I cannot picture it as you did not describe the characters' appearances enough. D:

Also, I would like to point out an error in the third chapter that Zyflair didn't catch :)P): Zack, when seeing the man, thinks "Nineteen is high enough to talk to James personally. Later, James says: "A number nine should have pride in his strength," or something like that.
