I was a little embarrassed at first, but then I realised that a lot of other people liked it to.
Lol, I've even seen people bring in Game Boys and play the older games.

Lol, that's how it was when I started freshman year. ;P
And some of the people even bought Platinum =3

What I find most amusing is that many of the people who mock those who like Pokemon, are often seen spending their class-time out in the hallway with their school books covering their DS playing the latest Pokemon game.

Not very many people play it at my High School, so I always keep it under-wraps. Some people mention the old school games and that's cool, but I doubt they actively play it. I'm not ashamed when I go to League though, so it all balances out.

dmaster out.

I've been picked on for my habit of eating lunch by myself and didn't care, so of course I wouldn't care if people picked on me for playing Pokémon, so... No, not embarrassed, and don't hide that I like it.

Is it just me, or is GSC still insanely popular?
At least once a week I see someone with an old Gameboy color playing those games in the library (against the rules).
Sometimes people even bring in old link cables!

Mostly the "retro" kids in my school do that. Those and the scene kids.

Lol thats an uphill battle...the cards are not just for kids, either...
ow, yes sorry forgotten, I don't play TCG so I was forgotten in :p But yeah if you see how many older people (even 20 and above) still play it...

Lol im not embarresed to play it in front of my Best friends. Lol they all play it also exept for my friend Sara who does not get the real games :p lol instead she plays the Mystery Dungeon games.
When im with my other friends I don't usualy play it.
Well, no offend but you're still 13, the older you get the less people play and the more embarresed you'll feel. But at the same time, the older you get and other people get the less they care and not start acting like little kids when they discover it.

OMG! that's funny, it would be nice if it was something like that around here, or at least getting accepted if you play it.

I used to get a lot of flak for even bringing the games to school. I never really cared about what people thought of it, though. I still don't.

That is bad. It is just almost as important to be educated socially, than it is to be academically educated.

I'm obsessed with pokemon, but no one knows because I have no need to talk about it. I have no time do do pokemon at school, and no one asks me about it, so whats the need to tell people? If someone asks me, I'll tell them, but they won't care because I don't show the stereotypical qualities of a "nerd". It's important that you know and practice getting along with others, and standing up for whats right, instead of avoiding situations. You can't run away from these situations when you have a job.

I told this chick I played pokemon and I haven't seen her since 5th grade (I'm a Junior in High School) and she told me it was cute :D And besides I'm too sexy and cool people would probably just think Pokemon was making a trendy comeback[/conceitedness] hahaha

I play the TCG

there's nothing to be embarrassed about
i'm in my second year of college and i still play it (well played it when i still had a ds)
my card binder with a drawing of flygon as a cover (or just binder with a drawing of a pokémon in the front to my friends who come in my room) is in plain view in my room
as well as the big darkrai plush (or just pokémon plush) next to my bed
í have friends (between 17~20 years old) who still openly say they love pokémon and play it and have a discussion with me about it, mostly just the game though

like once i was at a small get together with around 10~12 people between 16~20 years old
my friend and í were talking about the new gold and silver remakes and nobody criticized us or anything, they just had other conversaions

I'm not embarrassed at all. I just don't bring it into school because some **** person made a rule saying no pokemon cards or electronics can be brought into school. In fact in 1st grade before the rule everyone had them in class. Now same is with my little brother. My friends aren't that into pokemon but they respect it. They think of it as any other kind of game/hobby.

I am. At my school, some people are like, "You like something we hate. Get away from us weirdo." People actually say that. And it's not just to Pokemon lovers. Some go to Bakugan, Naruto, Yu-gi-oh, and stuff like that. At least, that's only at school. When I go to restaraunts, or to leagues, or places like that I'm not embarassed. Only at school, where they really bully you.

I'm in college, so no one really cares what anyone else does. That is besides the fact that I would rather look like the slightly nerdy but really smart guy anyway. Heck, a lot of people think it's cool because they remember playing it however many years ago and having a lot of fun with it.

Like they're saying, college is a lot better for people not bullying you.

Especially in art or gaming related classes. In fact, even in high school, the only classes where people never mocked me were my art classes and my Credit Recovery classes.

And if someone did mock me others would just stick up for me. The only times it really happens is in the hallways where you've just got your stereotypical tough guy who just says stuff like "Oh hey, that guy's into pokemon -starts mocking from a distance- -others tell him to shut up and leave the person alone, etc.="

I'm not.... I just don't care what my friends think :) It really isn't a "kiddy" game. The concept of capturing a monster, training it to take out all of your opponents, and teaching it a decent moveset to be used competitively is too difficult for most children to understand. They just pick the Pokemon that is the coolest or cutest and the moves that sound or look cool. Not to say they can't. Its perfectly fine because its the kids choice and all and that isn't always the worst way to do it. But Pokemon goes way in-depth with certain attacks, natures, IVs, EVs, Breeding, and even Catching Pokemon (Not everyone just hacks Master Balls with their friends Action Replay). Everything in the game is just to difficult for those people that think its too childish and thus have to make fun of it.

My friends aren't that into pokemon but they respect it. They think of it as any other kind of game/hobby.

Lucky....

^^ A very good point, dragon master. And gliscor, it is the EXACT same for me...i do it at restaurants and everything, but at school, its a no-go except yellow...also, of course its acceptable at leagues, lol...

i don't have that kind of problem really at all. One time in 7th grade i did a a singing telegram of the Pokemon song with my friends. We sold the most.

I keep it a secret. I'm sorta forced to. No one in my school still likes it; no one I'm aware of, at least. Everyone else still thinks it's a kid's game.

I used to be afraid to tell my friends that i played pokemon cards, thinking i would be "shunned" because i was playing what was on the surface, a immature game(lol, i was first introduced to it by my friend, who is 4 years younger than me, but yet acts as if he is just a year or to younger). But then i realized that they are all a bunch of loosers if they thought that, so i told them, lost my "friends", and now spend 10 hours a day on pokegym and pokebeach. So yeah, tell ur friends, it'll show you who theyu really are.
