A Rant About my Parents and Pokemon
My parents are trying to force pokemon out of me, it sucks. I haven't bought a pack in over six months, and I can't buy cards without my parents interrogating me like I'm some terrorist. I have a feeling my parents are purposefully keeping me away from leagues ("I have work" or "There's no one to pick you up"), and they think that I'll just throw all my cards away when I'm 16ish (which will never happen).
They also think it's a waste of money.
Wrong. I take Tae Kwon Do and swimming lessons at the YMCA, and my parents are spending as much, if not more, money on equipment and memberships than they would on pokemon cards. It couldn't be a waste of time, if I'm learning strategy and sportsmanship. I've even made friends through pokemon. How in the world could it be a waste of time, money, and my lifetime on earth when pokemon is one of the best experiences of my life? How could pokemon turn me into a mindless zombie and a complete idiot when at the same time, it's teaching me things about strategy, friendship, and sportsmanship? How could pokemon make me a lifeless, self-centered, I-don't-give-a-crud-about-the-world kind of person when I'm making more friends than I ever would without it? And most of all, how could this simple hobby, a pastime, be something that my parents would be afraid of?
And so, my message to you is:
Yes, I know this is a rant, but I was really fed up with this, so I decided to let it all out on this post.
