Well, you can use any Lightning Energy from any set. For the Darkness, since in Team Rocket Returns it was a special Energy Card, you'll need some reference due to a text change. There was no basic Darkness Energy in Team Rocket.

but If you are using a pre Ruby/Sapphire set Special energy card, make sure you are using the most recent wording of the card, either as a reference, or a card-dex printout.
