ERROR CARD FROM HGSS???

I managed to get ahold of a hgss booster box, big deal for me sense im broke and what not lol, and of course i open it as quick as i could. 10 packs in i got to a noctowl 8/123 no real big deal i thought. around pack 15 i got another one except this one was a reverse holo. cool i thought so i switched it with the one i currently had, putting it into its new home (sleeve). at pack 20 i got yet another one that was a normal holo. at this point a large red flag went off in my head and i started to look for the first noctowl. when i found it my jaw dropped :O. in this set the first 13 cards have 2 different holo forms, both of which i was able to obtain for the noctowl card from the box. however the first noctowl card i got from pack 10 has no holo to it at all. the picture on card is hololess and the card its self is also hololess???? does that count this card as an error??? i thought errors only accurd in the older sets like base set up to neo???
 
There are a few various errors that still occur.

Could you provide pictures?

Just look at the card's font. It's completely different from the one on PB's scan of it. Also, the fact it's a holo without the shiny part should already sound a little fishy. After you've seen enough cards, it's pretty easy to tell if one is fake or not.

Where did you buy them from? Was it online or from a small card store?
 
Tyler, I posted a link to a guide to identifying fake cards on your profile. The cards in the picture match a lot of the characteristics in this guide. Admittedly, the pictures aren't of the best quality, so it's impossible to say for certain without seeing them in person. That's why I was asking where you got them from.

omahanime, he said he pulled it out of a booster box, so it rules out the theme deck Noctowl.

But there has been other reports of theme deck non holo cards showing up in booster packs.
 
Oh, I haven't heard of anybody having that happen to them. Can you link me to where it happened if it got reported online?
 
Are you sure it's not just an error card, Celebi? Everything looks fine to me except for the lack of the holofoil.
 
Again, I can't be sure, which is why I wanted to know where he got the box from.

Take a look at the first or second picture. The Ninetales is too hard to see to get much from it, but the background appears to have less detail and is slightly darker than the standard reverse holo. It could be the picture quality and/or lighting, though. But look at the font for Extrasensory and the attack description. It's completely off, at least from my view.

The back of the card appears to be a darker blue than a standard back. The PokePower symbol also appears to be a slightly lighter red than the standard Noctowl.

The only thing that throws me off is that the Shuckle looks like it could be real. The text for Shell Barricade and Poison Jab don't seem like the right font though, idk.
 
I'm pretty sure these discrepancies are all because of photo quality/camera angle (I have reverse holos that look unusually dark when viewed from a certain angle, and all my cards are real) - or it could be due to some light bleaching, although this is unlikely. And the Extrasensory font looks fine to me - even the spacing is correct.

It's just the lack of holofoil that confuses me.
 
Yeah, I'm probably just a scrub. :p Sorry for any confusion I caused if they are real. But can we get a couple more opinions on this? I still don't think it looks normal.

It was on Pokébeach. Had to explain a miss-packaged card does not increase value.

Unless there is a difference between it and the non-holo theme deck, it is not an error card.
 
The cards look real to me. I doubt anyone could make such real looking reverse holos. As for the Ninetails being darker, that happens with reverse holos sometimes. I have got very dark and very light reverse holos out of packs from Target. Even if these were to be fake, I don't think it would matter, because no one would notice :p
 
to answer celebi i got the box from gaimingetc. the box was sealed when i got it and i dont see how all of them could be fake. i have personal accounts where individuals would try to sell me fake cards from HS Unleashed and it was easy to tell that they were fake because the reverse holo on the cards was all wrong but i never herd of someone going as far as making an athentic looking box (sealed) with athentic looking booster packs inside. omahanime's statement saying "there has been other reports of theme deck non holo cards showing up in booster packs" seems far more plausable...but then again i could always be wrong :)
