I agree. I think the overall design and colours are not bad, but Ho-Oh's pose looks strange.
How’s that? It looks like a big bird flying alongside a kid? The pose itself is not strange to me and given the other 4 SIRs I don’t even get what people expected other than this.

Also Ho-Oh is not a fierce pokemon (which generally suck anyways) so this calm vibe fits.

I really hope garchomp will be cute and the card looks like Bellibolt so everyone freaks out :)

How are we going to go through the entire stellar shtick, finally get a Ho-oh SAR, and somehow don't include a rainbow in the artwork? It's a nice card but lacks depth of thought to the pokemon (one of the most famous legendary nonetheless) that the card represents. Again nice card, but doesn't hold a candle to Silver Tempest Lugia.

To me it looks like it is landing towards Ethan, with its legs spread out as if it would want to catch him in some way.
And the eyes go into the direction as well, while the head is in pointing a different direction.
So it's a bit of a mix of flying forward and landing to catch prey. Not a huge deal, but strange-looking to me.

This would be more how it should hold its feet when just flying forward:
