Ethan’s Ho-Oh ex from “Heat Wave Arena” Revealed!

I guess the artists were all told to give a friendly, chill vibe for the ARs in this set and the previous one. Furusawa is amazing but this and the other trainer ARs are a bit on the bland side for me

Not a surprise that you see love for this card everywhere, you come here and people consider it mid . If you dislike it that’s that nothings ever changing that but it just feels some have lost *that* joy

A lot of people in this thread don't understand the difference between ho oh and Lugia. Ho oh isn't fierce. It isn't meant to be menacing or appear dangerous. Ho oh is majesty and wonder and the sacred power of resurrection. The SIR is a callback to the first episode of the entire anime, for heaven sake. It's fantastic, and I hope the price drops because of how little almost of you appreciate it.

I was kinda hoping for a Classical Japanese, or mosaic, or other very stylized illustration centered around the top of the Bell Tower. Possibly including the Kimono Girls dancing as Ho-Oh descends in the center of the frame, wings wide in a stance similar to its sprite; with Ethan in position to battle, facing Ho-oh with his back to the illustration, Pokeball in hand and ready to prove himself. I think that would really highlight this being Ethan’s Ho-oh. But the art we got isn’t too bad either, I guess. I get the subtle anime reference, but that’s not even Ethan, that’s Ash. The art’s kinda basic, and the landscape is at a bit of a weird angle, too. Idk. I wish I wasn’t underwhelmed, Ho-Oh is one of my favorite legendaries, but I just kinda am. I don’t hate it but don’t love it

These trainer cards suck holy moly are they mid. Gen 9 seems to be pulling a reverse gen 8 by starting off strong and ending with mid mid MID!!!!

I appreciate the context of the card here! I honestly am not too educated on the lore between Ethan and ho-oh but this description makes it a lot better!

Hard to not consider it mid when the booster pack Ho-oh art looks more fitting as the SIR instead of the actual one.
