I have found an interesting new item in the new games called the Evolution Stone. This stone is what is making people use Chansey over Blissey and Dusclops over Duskinor. From what I have heard, this item gives base stage pokemon a 50% defense and sp. defense boost, and first stage pokemon a 30% boost, this item does nothing on pokemon like Heracross and Durnsparce, or final evolutions. This thread is to discuss the possibilities of this new item. I myself have found that this makes Cronchaw 16% more bulky than its evolution, Ferligator.
 
Huh.That is probably a must-have tor the basic stage shinys that when they evolve,they lose the shiny part.Would it work well.I wonder.

Chansey isn't allowed in LC, but its pre-evo, Happiny, is.
ANYWAY, I actually think this will be the next Life Orb.
Going to be used a TON, and make Duskinor UU, and also Blissey.
Chansey and Dusclops for OU!
 
evo stone boosts the def and Sp Def by 1 stage (x1.5), and its for any unevolved Pokemon, not just first stages.

The NFE metagame has banned the evo stone because it makes things way too wild, but its allowed in Uber NFE. with the evo stone, there are lots of NFEs that outclass their evolutions! :D

like it was said, Chansey on paper has more defense then Blissey with the evo stone, and Tangela works really well in standard tiers with its defense over 400. what makes things blurry is when Leftovers' recovery is better then Evo stone's defense boosts.
 
I'm stil not sure that Evo Stone Chansey outclasses Leftovers Blissey. Dusclops works better as a wall than Dusknoir, but at least Dusknoir can hit back. Shouldn't this go in competetive play?
 
@ Shadow Arceus: Trust me, Evo Stone Chansey outclasses Blissey by far. The only reason to choose Blissey would be if you want leftovers and Sp. Atk, and that's it. Leftovers reallly isn't a big deal because of the Defensive boost and access to recovery like Wish and Softboiled.

Also, Dusclops has access to Seismic Toss and Night Shade. That's enough to take 100 HP off any Pokemon.

I kinda like Murkrow with Evo Stone and Mischievous Heart. It works like Sableye with better defenses.
 
Evo Stone is one of those items that turns a very crappy Pokemon into a top tier defencive threat. Chansey is a fantastic wall and with a spread of 252 HP / Def Bold has defences equal to a max defence Swampert. It's special defence is even higher and allows it to use no SDef EVS at all to be a amazing special wall. In Ubers 252 Def / SDef makes it quite defencive. It can take any special move outside SpecsOgre.


ToxicStall Murkrow is also a great Pokemon. It's good defences and nice recovery allows it to be a nice wall. The only thing that really bothers me is not many of these Pokemon have the HP stat to keep up with their defences. This is Murkrows main problum.

Gligar is even more defencive than Gliscor. Although it loses poison heal it has Immunity which means it's immune to Poison. This may help in some cases actually. Stall especially. A stall breaker set is even more possible because it can switch into things like Gyarados's Waterfall alot easier. It also can wall the new fighting types like Roobushin a bit easier. It must be careful when using Roost though. That's the main reason why I lose Poison Heal Gliscor over any Gligar set. It dosen't need to lose it's fighting type when getting massive healing.

Dusclops is better than ever though. With no ev invesment it's defences are over 400. This may mean it's one of the best fighting type counters ever. Low speed means Payback will do very little damenge. It can also be used as a check to certein mixed sweepers.

As for the discussion, Evo Stone is pro. I personally still like Blissey, because it can make use of Flamethrower and Ice Beam, and not be set-up bait for Sub-Split Gengar. Dusknoir is the same thing, as it can do real damage with Payback, Earthquake, and Shadow Sneak. But still, Evo Stone really boosts Murkrow, Gligar, and the aforementioned Chansey and Dusclops.
 
Mehh, I personally preffer running Evo Stone Chansey/Murkrow since Murkrow frustrates most things trying to take on semi Stall and Chansey can wall things off that Blissey really can't.
Don't forget Pory 2! I hear he's one of the bulkiest Evo Stone users.

I think dabuuran has potential with an evo stone. Have you noticed that sp atk does not change upon evolution? There could be some use of it.
 
you guys are forgeting of shelgon it is epick whith evo stone and toxic since it has wish it can stall as well as pass on healing
 
Some people are forgetting about the new Wish mechanics. Blissey passes more health than Chansey does using Wish, and also Leftovers really does make a difference, even if Chansey has access to recovery. In a metagame where many teams have sandstorm, leftovers negates the SS damage as well.
 
Blissey WILL NOT be UU. No matter the defence boost, Blissey is still better than Chansey. Blissey gets leftovers. Not to mention Knock Off. I use a Knock Off Abagoora that DESTROYS Porygon 2, Chansey, and Dusclops. Lets face it, without their items, these Pokemon are useless. Evo stone Dusclops may out class Dusknoir, but Blissey is still better than Chansey.

Umm, I beg to differ. Dusclops and Chansey aren't completely useless without their Evo Stones. Dusclops still had the defences to wall decently, and Chansey can still recover with Softboiled to regain health, and walls specially with its super good sp defence. Sure, their not as good, but their still not "completely useless"
 
I use Blissey over Chansey but Chansey has its merits despite lack of leftovers recovery by withstanding some important 2HKOs on the physical side. Dusclops is clearly better than Dusknoir with access to Night Shade and Seismic Toss. Basically it depends on how you play. If you need to wall a couple attacks and take some shots use Evo Stone. For total stall I would go to Leftovers especially to counter everpresent sandstorm.
