Experimenting for Acanthite TCG revival

Just been playing with the Acanthite blanks style to get it right. Fairly happy with the overall template now and will use this for the TCG revival. I did make a bunch of custom textures for Pokémon types unrepresented by the TCG but these are highly unlikely to be used in the revival so I've just remade old cards with these blanks for fun and to show off the revised card style.

One possibility would be to use these textures to show the Pokémon type but use the type symbols that they would normally be grouped with (ie. Ghost background but with the Psychic type symbol). It could create a little more depth to the visual side of the TCG without unbalancing the type groupings.

You never fail to impress me with your work, Fangking Very nice blanks (and cards), although in Meowmy, the part where you put "Basic" looks a little off to the right. Is that intended?

Awesome work, Fang. Glad to see you come back! I love the patterns you chose -- it very much diversifies things! If you wouldn't mind, would it be possible for you to share them all? Although you know how partial I am toward custom Energy types, I do like the idea of simply changing the texture and keeping the normal TCG-type -- a fact I actually tossed around last year during the planning stages of Redux.

If I could make one small suggestion, it would be to blend the purple/green a little more in the Poison texture -- a little more similar to the top (near the name) than near the attacks.

Amazing as always. Looking forward to more. CMP is right on the Poison blank, and I honestly don't like how the evolution bubble on Crobat is slanted. Everything else is perfect.

I personally like the slanted evo bubble. I think it ties in well with the italic "Evolves from..." text.

Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop. I've made symbols (multiple, admittedly) for all the types.


I like the slanted evo bubble, too. As Aki said, it goes well with the italic text, but it just looks more stylized as well -- something that's never a bad thing!

Very nice cards! Only one problem I saw:

Crobat's Ability says, "This power can't be used if…"

Other than that, nice cards! I like the new format, and the ability symbol is better than the current one, in my opinion. Keep up the good work!
