  • 3 Double Colorless Energy
    9 Fire Energy

Strategy:

Camerupt EX is the main attacker of the deck. His attack, Explosive Jet, for [R][R][C][C] does 50 damage times the amount of [R] energy you discard from ANY of your Pokemon. This card has great synergy with Team Magma's Camerupt from Double Crisis. It has an ability called Burndraft which allows you to attach a [R] or [F] energy from your discard to pile to that Pokemon once per turn. So when you attack with Camerupt EX, the goal is to discard from the Team Magma's Camerupt on the bench rather than your Camerupt EX, and then next turn reattach those energy with burndraft, and so be able to keep up a constant stream of explosive jets and presumably OHKO's every turn. I added in muscle band later after realizing how often that extra 20 damage can help against EX's with 170 HP, as you only have to discard 3 energy instead of 4 to OHKO them. Outrage Reshiram is a good backup attacker and useful against safeguard Pokemon, and Pyroar is also very helpful in certain situations, such as against Seimitoad, which kind of kills this deck. We can use scorched earth, ultra balls, and juniper to get fire energy into the discard for Burn Draft. Double colorless is there to quickly power up Camerupt EX, and occasionally Reshiram and Pyroar. Scramble Switch is a good hit from behind card which works well in this deck and is good because no one expects it as it is not very common. And everything else should just be standard stuff. Haven't been able to really test it yet, but the matches I have played on PTCGO have gone pretty well so far. Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated, thanks!

RE: Explosive Jet (Camerupt EX/Team Magma's Camerupt)

Awesome deck! It reminds me of a Quad Charizard deck - constantly 170 (or BIG) damage.
I would recommend instead of Trump Card, maybe more fire energy. I know your thinking: Trump Card to shuffle in energy if most of it is exhausted. But this can sometimes slow down the next turn because you then need to get those energy back in the discard pile. I would either take out trump card for more energy (as I said), or, if you would really like to keep the Trump Card, fit in a Battle Compressor or two. Also, I do not think FOUR VS Seeker are necessary - 2 is minimal, 3 is good, but I think 4 is excessive.
Overall, looks good!

I find 2-3 Battle Compressors, with Silent Lab instead of Scorched Earth, a quite powerful combination in this deck, especially with Magma Admins. 4 VS Seekers also works well with them, given how discard orientated this deck can become.

Hi jgar5772,

Nice deck. Flashfire Pyroar or even the Phantom Forces version do not seem to be needed in this deck. In fact the small evolution line will slow the deck down. Since Camerupt Ex does not have much staying power in a ohko format consider to run Dowsing Maschine over Scramble Switch and stream down the balls engine to a more classic one since it is more versatile and consistent. Based on these considerations I would consider these modifications:

- 1 Reshiram LTR (not needed in this deck)
- 1 Pyroar FLF (not needed in this deck)
- 1 Litleo FLF (not needed in this deck)
- 1 Scramble Switch (not better than dowsing maschine)
- 1 Evosoda (ultra ball is more versatile)

+ 2 Professor's Letter (works real with the stadium and ball engine)
+ 1 Dowsing Maschine (you live from the discard)
+ 1 Ultra Ball (more versatile search)
+ 1 Acro Bike (this is a speed deck)

Hope this provides some initial assistance.

Agreed with the above, I also think Lysandre's Trump Card may be counter-productive as you might be shuffling in your own energies too. Muscle Band I'm also unsure on, as you're going to try to hit multiples of 5 (Whether it's 150, 200 or 250) to KO the big guys.

I'd recommend replacing the Muscle Bands with Battle Compressors- very useful to dump 2 energy and a Blacksmith, or thin out your deck towards the end when you need to increase the chances of you drawing DCEs.

Good list though! Glad to see more people picking this juggernaut of a deck up.

I have play tested this deck with a different build though. 3 camerupt ex, a 2-2 line of magma camerupt, 3-3 pyroar and 1 reshiram. Yes its nice to have more camerupt on the bench, but its really not needed once you have the two. I can see maybe 3 for consistency of drawing them. So maybe a 2-2 pyroar line and 3-3 camerupt. This is my list.

I've been playing this deck a lot lately, it is, by a long way my favourite deck. Because of how efficient it can be and how easy it is to set up this deck is very powerful, i've trashed night march, pyroar, camerupt/emboar, mega aggron, fairy's, even water decks.

The key is simplicity and redundancy as they translate to consistency which is what wins games with this deck. Consistently getting out two to four Magma's Camerupt and a EX attacker. That's what wins you games. With VS and Blacksmith support.

Now to do this battle compressor is key. You can dump out most your fire energies and kickstart your game doing a lot of damage from turn 1. With three or even four TM Camerupt out and a constant supply of VS seekers, energy retrieval and Blacksmith you can easily hit for over 250 every turn from turn 1 or 2.

I've found this deck actually has a good match up VS Pyroar because TM camerupt can set up real quick and trade with Pyroar while energising a EX or different TM Camerupt on the bench and if you can battle compressor Lysandre to the discard pile and keep bringing it back with VS seeker you can snipe the opponents EX's with your Camerupt EX and even hard retreating him isn't a big deal as it's just more fuel for your TM Camerupt.

Camerupt EX x4
Team Magma's Camerupt 4-4 line

Team Magma's Admin x1

Shauna x4 (I'm playing with it future at the moment but you can use 1 N 1 Colress 2 Prof Birch if you prefer)

Lysandre x1
Ultra Ball x2
Repeat Ball x3
Scorched earth x3
Startling Megaphone x1
VS seeker x4
Energy Retrieval x2
Battle Compressor x3

I was working on something like this:

Pokemon: 16

  • 3 Camerupt-EX
    3-3 Team Magma’s Camerupt
    2-2 Pyroar
    2 Victini-EX
    1 Jirachi-EX
Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums: 32

  • (12)
    4 Professor Sycamore
    3 N
    1 Colress
    3 Blacksmith
    1 Lysandre

    (17)
    3 VS Seeker
    2 Muscle Band
    3 Acro Bike
    3 Ultra Ball
    2 Professor’s Letter
    2 Switch
    1 Float Stone/Another Switch
    1 Computer Search/Dowsing Machine/Scramble Switch

    (3)
    3 Scorched Earth
Energy:

  • 9 Fire Energy
    3 DCE

Strategy:

Victini-EX is if you go second and you couldn't get Camerupt-EX off to accelerate the energy setup on turn 1. After 1st turn, switch out (usually). Although I don't know how you can first-attack Camerupt-EX in the first place over 120 damage (a DCE and Blacksmith can only get the damage to 100, after all).

If you go first, then Victini-EX is ignored. If you want to kill walls, well, we got Pyroar for that (what's Sigilyph and Suicune gonna do?). I know people really like Reshiram, but I don't see much point in it. Not sure if Victini-EX is even needed though.

Muscle Band is for Pyroar so he can hit 110 against mirrors or OHKO Suicunes. It can also help Camerupt-EX hit for 170 instead of needing to hit 200 (and can hit 220 against EX's), saving a discard.

I liked Switch over Float Stone because you probably don't expect to switch in and out a lot. But it's up for debate. Jirachi-EX is there for tech.

I think Computer Search >>>> all the other ACE SPECS. But i don't have enough experience with this deck yet. Hopefully this build can give some ideas on what to scrap and what to keep? Thinking about fitting in Compressor. Victini-EX may/may not even be needed.

Scramble Switch would be better in this deck in my opinion because of the high retreat cost of Camerupt-EX.

(ex:) Camerupt-EX Active w/ 150 dmg. Scramble Switch into fresh Camerupt-EX. AZ/Scoop Damaged Camerupt-EX...

come to think of it, AZ/Super Scoop might be a good tech...
