So, by now we have the Clefairy family, Lunatone, Solrock, Deoxys, Registeel, Jirachi and the Beheeyem family as proof that there's life in space, at least Pokémon life, not to mention Arceus' creation of the universe.

Do you think it's possible and would you like to see an alien humanoid (or not) people introduced in the series, even more alien Pokémon or both?
These Pokémon are "here" in the Pokémon world, ASOR brought the possibility of going to space, in Japanese Zinnia is a member of the "Meteor people", so in the future there might be a nod to the real-life theory that it were the aliens that taught us stuff. While it may seem odd and more so if all of a sudden we had an entire people of aliens coming in (perhaps signaled by Staryu! :p ), I wouldn't mind if we had a visitor in one future game!

RE: Extra-Pokémon world-terrestrial people & Pokémon in the series

This could be the next Gen of Pokemon. Instead of making new Pokemon and tell us they were always here just in another region , they can finally make this logical by creating a whole new generation that somehow came from another planet and even make it possible to travel to that planet and discover more new Pokemon. Much like Pokemon GSC we will have 2 regions but in the form of 2 planets. The first region will be on earth and will contain some of the new Pokemon that came from another planet. After you finish the main story you will be able to teleport with the mascot alien Pokemon to the planet it came from ( The next "region") and there you will discover more new Pokemon, strange items ( Space Pokeball!) and secrets about old Pokemon that came from space which were never told before.

That's an interesting topic!

They could go the space-exploration route with future game... the question is, would that actually broaden the possibilities or would it just be a gimmicky thing that would get old really fast?

I mean, the concept of space travel is of course exciting (I am a huge fan of astronomy and space-exploration since my childhood), but to me it sounds more like something for a specific story involving that theme (like the Delta episode). I don't see it adding much to the actual world-building of the franchise (unless we'd get to steer spaceships through unrealistic asteroid-fields and stop at a pokecenter on a space station LOL....).

A big part of pokemon is about exploring cool places and finding interesting pokemon in them... but saying "this is another planet!" doesn't make the place more exotic, if it isn't exotic itself already. And if it is.. it doesn't need to be another planet in most cases.

Crappy example:
Lets say Pokemon is now about teleporting between different planets and exploring those and collecting pokemon on them.
One of those planets would inevitably be an ice-themed planet... but an exciting ice-themed environment can be done in a regular region just as well, doesn't it?

In Platinum we visited a place called the Torn world, where gravity does whatever it wants and you're jumping on rocks floating in the middle of a dark void!
That's stranger than any "other planet" could be, and the story didn't need us to get off the planet for that. We are already playing with strange dimensions at this point, because it has exotic things to offer.

So in general I think we'll stay earthbound for quite a while. Maybe an over the top trip into space, to a moon or something, sure! But as a major world-redifining concept? What does it bring that is otherwise lacking?
Other planets are places, either like "this" planet, or hostile to life and useless to the franchise. And actual space itself is just an overwhelming amount of nothing...so it really boils down to space-exploration as a gimmicky plot-device in my view.

It would be disappointing if in the next pokemon game we "go to explore the solar system omg", but then don't see anything mindblowing we haven't seen in regular pokemon games ;O

As for alien-inspired pokemon...I'm sure we will see more pokemon based on some specific alien-type from popculture, but in a way, there is plenty of pokemon that already feel more "alien" than alien-inspired pokemon. I mean something like Lickilicky is quite strange if you think about it. As is Roggenrola, or Weezing.. And they didn't have to come from space, apparently it's perfectly normal for the planet the Pokemon games take place on LOL

The Torn World is indeed a great place but it lacked size and that's the same for almost everything that's new. I was left wanting more of that Torn World, perhaps some upside-down architecture, parts of it in black, white and gray, debris flying over the place, instead of a blue backgroung w/ some platforms and "living plants". An icy area can be done both in another planet and Pkearth but it's harder to justify an extravagant and odd icy area in Pkearth than in some other planet and what I would like to see is more extreme architecture and technology too. We already have some in the anime's Pkworld but if by the 90's it was amazing to see Ash reaching out to Oak by a screen and sending Pokémon like data, it was only with XY that we've seen a holographic Dex, not to mention that it was only that because calls are still made with a physical screen. It seems that we'll only get those if it comes from another world. Of course, this (read it - more advanced technology) is not my reason for wanting to see aliens (Pokémon and humanoids) but because I do like the theme and there's already a possibility. It doesn't seem that we can or will have all of a sudden an invasion in the Pkworld but we can indeed go further step by step.

We're never going to go space exploring as the main part of a region because the Pokémon Universe's environment is perfect for the Pokémon that live there. Sure, some regions have more than others (Kalos has a varied climate as you travel the region allowing many Pokémon to live there) but over time adaptations have occurred within each species' DNA. If we were to go to space they'd have to pull another B/W on us and feature all entirely new Pokémon besides Rayqauza and Deoxys, because even Pokémon like Cleffa and Elgyem, who originated in space, have adapted now.

I'd like to see a side-quest or an alternative route when you finish elite four to "explore space", maybe collecting pokemon from certain areas on different days. It might link in with the future technology the new "rival" teams seem to be creating

First of, I don't recall being any adaptation, while that is logical if going by atmosphere reasons, but that doesn't mean that all of them may have adapted...Elgyem was just found some 50 years ago!
While you are right when it comes to pull out entirely new Pokémon and even if some have adapted, what's wrong in seeing them in their "alien" formes and their native region or alien slice of region? I certainly would rather like to see an alien form of the Cleffa family (or Cleffa's alien form that has an alien (original) evolution different than ours) than a Mega-Cleffable!
