So I recently decided to go back and play through New Vegas again, and I very quickly remembered how utterly amazing this game is. The story, the missions, the map, the characters, I just love it.

Let's have a Fallout thread. Thoughts, help, likes, dislikes, weapon discussion and mission strategies.

Post spoilers for plot giveaways, in case someone wonders into the thread unknowing of the plot and intending to get the game. but everyone should have played at least one of them by now

I'll start -
In New Vegas when I first arrived in Novac and did Boone's mission to find out who sold out his wife, I couldn't believe it was...
Jeannie-May. Genuinely what the hell. Obvious suspect would've been the other sniper (I forget his name), and I was even suspicious of the shopkeeper. He seemed too confident in his story.

Gogogogogo!

I thought we had a Fallout thread a long time ago, but whatever. Fallout 3 is probably my favorite console game, and New Vegas isn't far behind. I've platinum'd both games (all achievements/quests/dlc), and I'm really excited to see how Fallout 4 will stack up on next generation consoles.

And if you haven't played Fallout 1 or 2, they're really easy to find online.

I haven't been an active user long enough to know, and I dug through a bit and couldn't find anything so do forgive me if I missed something!

I noticed in my first playthrough of NV I got barely any trophies, so in my current one I've gone with 10 Luck and I got banned from playing at all the casinos really quickly (blackjack is crazy easy, you rarely lose at all with 10 Luck) and got the trophy for that. Are there any particularly difficult trophies to acquire?

Nah, it was a LONG time ago, so in hindsight, it's better just to create a new thread.

And the only trophies I had a tough time getting in New Vegas were melee-related, mostly because I hate using Unarmed. The Gun Runners dlc sidequests were a pain, too.

I took the Yes Man quests last time and I'm doing the NCR quests this time. I think I'll do a whole new save with Caesar's Legion and try Unarmed in future (seeing as the Legion seem to specialize in melee combat), but I agree. Why punch enemies to death when you can carry an arsenal on your back?

Yeah, Caesar's Legion gets you a nice, steady supply of melee/unarmed weapons, so shoot for that during your Legion playthrough. I actually did NCR first since I always side with the goodguys first playthrough. Making alliances with The Great Khans, Brotherhood of Steel, Boomers, and The Remnants nets you some of the best equipment in the game.

I think in my Yes Man playthrough I sided with the Boomers and Brotherhood as simple sidequests, but I completely agree. The armor the Brotherhood gives you at the end of their quests is just awesome.

Power Armor is nice, but it's really rare in New Vegas. My favorite armor in the game is Elite Riot Gear from the Lonesome road DLC. It provides a bunch of bonuses and has one of the best DT in the game, especially for medium armor. Taking Jury Rigging early really lets you keep rare armor (like power armor and riot gear) in good condition.

I adore the Fallout series. Fallout 3 is my favourite. Such a great world with so much to discover. It's shortly followed by 2 however and I do wish they would make another grid based Fallout again. Then again Wasteland 2 (what inspired Fallout) is being made so I guess I'm happy.

Initially I hated Fallout 3. I played it and hadn't gotten into it at all. Then one week I had nothing to do so I decided to give the game another chance. I fell in love with it. This has happened with New Vegas too, but I want to play it again before I actually judge it because everyone says it is great.
