Favorite Card Artist?

KEIJI KINEBUCHI, MAN!

Made ALL of the 3D cards before RS, he was important! He made the original Energies, Potion, Energy Search, Maintenance, Item Finder, Poke Ball, Pokemon Center, Devolution Spray... He was like a PRO 3D animator in those days, we're talking late 90's here!

(NOSTALGIA!!!)

Miki Tanaka!

...I kid.

But seriously I have to say Mitsuhiro Arita. He has the ability to make a lowly pokemon like Rattata look brilliant.

Current favorite artwork on cards are probably Infernape SF, Wailord GE, Kingdra LA, Luxray LA, Dragonite LA, Dark Blastoise, Feraligatr EXP, and a lot more.

Shin-ichi Yoshida also did some great artwork for Rocket's Zapdos and Rocket's Mewtwo.

Probably my favorite artwork for a card I own is Ho-Oh Neo Revelation by Kimiya Masago. Very beautiful and vibrant.

I haven't touched the TCG since 2006, but I'll never forget Kouki Saitou. If I got his name right anyway.

For the record...Kouki Saitou is a woman. "Kouki" is a feminine name.

I'm probably the only person EVER who likes Tomokazu Komiya's distinct style.

I also like Tomokazu Komiya's style. It really needs a good look to see that yes, he does know all the basics of painting and has definitely taken art classes before. The weird melted-looking distortion that probably turns a lot of people off from his works is clearly done on purpose.

He's also been around since the original Team Rocket set, so Nintendo clearly values him.

Kanako Eo.
Awesome art is awesome.

I like her stuff too. She's one of the few illustrators to dare design Supporter cards (such as Holon Researcher, and Roseanne's Research).

Doesn't anyone like Shizurow, the guy who does the very realistic LvX?

I actually don't like realism in Pokémon. I'm drawn to Pokémon and not some other monster games such as, say, Spore, which try really hard to make them look like they could exist in reality.

Rather, I like the simplistic design of Pokémon, and I like how it's remained that way. Some artists I've met have told me it's way harder to convey something in very few lines. They might not look as tangible as Final Fantasy XII, but they ooze with personality. (Not to knock FF12, of course.)

By the way, it's Midori Harada and, on some occasions, Aya Kusube who goes for super-detailed textures and more realistic lighting. By the way, I LOVE Aya Kusube's Tangela from Legend Maker. It's a really cool imitation of Maurice Sendak.

Am I the only one who likes Masakazu Fukuda's illustrations? They just seem really, well, clean (linework and colour-wise), along with awesome poses :p

I also like Mitsuhiro Arita's original style (the style used in the first few sets, such as Base Set). Ah, the memories :D

Without a doubt Sugimori. As much as I love all the artists, he's artwork always seems like THE Pokemon art, I know he does the official artwork, but thats the immediate image of Pokemon I get when I think of Pokemon, Sugimori.
Although I quite like Kenji Kinebuchi when he designed cards, Suzumiya Kizuki, CC CR Gangs (the original Unown's), Mitsuhiro Arita's original style, as well as several other artists. Kagamaru Himeno is also good, as is Atsuko Nishida...
I must say Ryo Ueda hasn't won me over just yet.
