February Filler Set

Well, like any speculation on the next set, take this with a grain of salt, but Toywiz is saying that the February set is expected to be Black/White. Etcgaming has been quiet on the matter, and I can find nothing else anywhere.

The hypothetical filler set still seems to be the most obvious candidate though since the Black/White games won't be out until April (about the 22nd, according to Gamestop's reservation book they have near the registers).

So yeah, with B/W (the games) being released Q1 2011, there's just no time for a filler set. We're getting BW and that's final.

Pikachu6319: Never trust Gamestop.

Bulbapedia better not be stating that or I have some users to hunt down: I'm the head of TCG there.

The way they did PK was that English released it, and then Japan released it online exclusively after their release of Mysterious Treasures. I don't see why they couldn't do that again

@Firemeowth: Indeed? Then maybe you have some idea where to find more reliable release date info for games. I gotta say it seems to me that while they tend to change their dates a couple of times early on, they're still pretty accurate in the end.

I guess the only way we'll really know what's next is when information is revealed. Logically speculating on whether or not we get a filler set or B/W set isn't really proving anything.

A filler set seems likely simply because (I hope lol) Nintendo should know better than wait for six months for the next set. I'll let you all in on a little secret. At least from a retail standpoint, Pokemon TCG has exploded over the past year and a bit, and therefore TPC should follow suit and keep the game flowing with new sets every quarter.

Pikachu6319:
The only reliable sources are the official ones, or those quoting official sources. Gamestop just make random dates all the time, and are wrong (way) more often than not. The fact that they were just proven wrong by Nintendo should be enough to make you understand that much, right?

Also, there's no way they'd release the BW TCG set 2-4 months after the games. That just won't happen. We're not getting a filler set.

The problem with that logic is that we don't know the release date of Black and White yet, either. "Spring 2011" is as official as it gets right now. That could mean March, April or May, and it's definitely logical to release the game in April or May and have the first BW TCG set come out in May too.

I think it's impossible to know for sure until we find out BW's exact release date or TPCI announces the next TCG set.

Frost: As said several times, Nintendo recently put up a Q1 2011. January~March. :I

FireMeowth,

The last week of March is still the first quarter of 2011. Why release TCG 6-8 weeks before the video game?

I dunno how people can be saying we will get a hoenn remake. The reason we got updated versions of the first 2 gens was because they weren't compatible with gen 3 and 4 and the games were quite dated as they were on gameboy. Gen 3 on the other hand isn't that dated and there is only so many remakes that can be made.

It actually wouldn't be that bad to get updated versions of the VS cards now. We never got them when they came out and since they are all based around Johto it would work as a HS set as long as the HPs and attacks are updated a bit to fit into current play. It also could bring the rise of new SPs which they could be rereleased as.

Somehow though I doubt that would happen.

I do agree with Omahanime, even if Black/White does release in March rather than April or later (and let's not forget that Nintendo is capable of pushing back release dates if they see the need too) we still have that six to eight week gap between February (assuming early month release for a card set like we had with Triumphant) and March (assuming it falls under the last week or week and a half as I believe it did with Pearl and Diamond). Not to mention the 3-4 month gap between release of Triumphant and the February set, when for the past X number of years, a new Pokemon set has been released almost quarterly as well. Of course the only way to get a real answer is when the new set (regardless of what it is) gets announced.

There is one reason to suspect a Hoenn remake. The DsI, which has no port for game boy color games, which means no pal park for anyone who has a DsI...so what happens when/if (hopefully when :D ) we get Generation Six and Nintendo will have most likely introduced the successor to the Ds systems and the similar ones (ie the I, the XL, anything else that might be part of this list). Now granted, depending on that design, I suppose that might lead to needing gen 4 and 5 remakes. But that is really so far off that it's very hard to predict. Again, all we have to base that on is the fact that they have made gen 1 and gen 2 remakes.

(assuming it falls under the last week or week and a half as I believe it did with Pearl and Diamond).

DP came out on April 22 in the US.

The DP base set came out May 23 because we got Power Keepers in February.

And I can't find any sort of an official source for this "Q1 2011" thing, so in my mind BW are still coming out in "Spring 2011."

Thanks for the confirmation on the release of D/P towards the end of the month. Apparently with both the game and the cards. Also comes rather close to confirming that Black/White could indeed be April 22nd as Gamestop said, though we'll have to wait and see.

Kinda confirms the idea we should get a filler set for Ferbruary.

WPM has just posted somthing confirming the filler set, entitled Call of Legends. No more speculation on the filler sets existence. Now on to speculation on what is IN the set, LOL

well, its confirmed, the new filler set will be called "call of legends"

now time to speculate as to whether they include all the cut cards from lost link as well as the new primes and legends.

i really want kanto starter primes. charizard prime would be amazing.

as for legends. the only "legendary" pokemon left are the legendary birds, giratina, arceus, and mesprit uxie azelf.
i dont think they will be doing mew and mewtwo as mew is already a prime

Um, I think you're forgetting Shaymin, Regigias (and the Regis), Latioas, Latias and Heatran. Assuming one doesn't count Manaphy as a legendary.

Except for Undaunted which had three, we've only had two LEGENDS per set. I'd either guess all three Kanto birds or Lake Tiro done in the same style as the dogs, or Giratina and Shaymin/Regigigas and Heatran/Latias and Latios (two of the three). I imagine Arceus would be hard due to his status as 'Mulitype'.

As for Primes, we have plenty of options. I think, over exposed as I think he is, Mewtwo might be one of those Primes. Again except for Triumphant giving us eight of them, all other set have had six primes, so I'm guessing that's what we'd be getting. I wonder if there will be another Alph Litograph in that set.

This is assuming they have Primes and Legends in this set (I would assume so, but you never know).

Yeah, a Charizard prime (kanto starters primes in general) would be awesome. The primes and legends will be all-new, for sure. And since it's called "Call of legends", I expect the shiny legendary pokémon cards to be in it.

If Call of Legends is really the fifth HS set*, I hope they give us a few Japanese-only goodies that we didn't get in previous sets. Including the rest of the Lost Link cards (even though I just spent money to import them... GRARGH), the six HGSS L-P Sugimori promos, Jigglypuff from DPt-P, etc. And if there are reprints of old cards they could use alternate artworks we never got in the US like the DP-P Monferno, Grotle, Prinplup and Staravia.

* - the thing I don't get is, wouldn't the set's name be "HS - Call of Legends" like the previous sets have been "HS - Unleashed," "HS - Undaunted" and "HS - Triumphant"?
