Aggron (HS: TM 1 Metal) with 2 Metal energy (Special) and 1
basic Metal energy attached is attacked by Weaville (HS: UD 25
Darkness) with 2 Darkness energy (Special) attached, using Feint
Attack. On the previous turn, Aggron had knocked out the
opponents active Pokemon using Guard Claw. What is the results of
Feint Attack and why?
Guard Claw: 60 During your opponents next turn, any damage done
to Aggron by attacks is reduced by 20 (after applying weakness and
resistance).
Feint Attack: Choose 1 of your opponents Pokemon. This attack
does 30 damage to that Pokemon. This attacks damage isnt affected
by weakness, resistance, Poke-Powers, Poke-Bodies, or any other
effects on that Pokemon.
Metal Energy (Special): Damage done by attacks to the Pokemon that
Metal Energy is attached to is reduced by 10 (after applying weakness
and resistance). Ignore this effect if the Pokemon that Metal energy is
attached to isnt {M}. Metal energy provides {M} energy. (Doesnt
count as a basic energy card)
Darkness Energy (Special): If the Pokemon Darkness energy is
attached to attacks, the attack does 10 more damage to the active
Pokemon (before applying weakness and resistance). Ignore this effect
unless the attacking Pokemon is Darkness type or has Dark in its
name. Darkness energy provides {D} energy. (Doesnt count as a
basic energy card)
a. Feint attack ignores Guard Claws damage reduction and the
damage reduction effect of 2 Special Metal energy card on a Metal
Pokemon, as both are effects on Aggron. The damage is increased by
20 for the 2 Special Darkness energy cards on Weaville. Feint attack
does 50 damage to Aggron.
b. Guard Claws damage reduction effect only applies to the
Pokemon that the attack was used on during the previous turn.
Additionally, Feint Attack ignores the 20 damage reduction effect of
the 2 Special Metal energy cards on a Metal Pokemon. The damage is
increased by 20 for the 2 Special Darkness energy cards on Weaville.
Feint attack does 50 damage to Aggron.
c. Feint Attack does not ignore Guard Claws damage reduction,
which is an effect on the opponent, not the Defending Pokemon.

Feint attack does ignore the 20 damage reduction effect of the 2
Special Metal energy cards on a Metal Pokemon. Because the effect
of Guard Claw reduced the damage from Feint Attack to 0, the 20
extra damage for the 2 Special Darkness energy cards on Aggron is
not applied, since they can only add damage to an attack that already
does damage. Feint attack does no damage to Aggron.
