Standard Fighting Deck help needed (Sun & Moon)

G'day

I'm pretty new to the card game and have quite a few strong fighting pokemon so would like to run a fighting deck, problem is allot of the forums talk about deck pre sun and moon and now with GX cards popular instead of EX i feel as though the "old" fighting decks i'm trying to copy are out of date. I currently have the below cards and happy to spend a little money to upgrade my trainers but dont want to spend a fortune and say buy Shaymin Ex, 4 x VS Seeker etc
if i could get some advice on how to tweak my current deck that would be MUCH MUCH appreciated.

Pokemon (15)
3 x Regirock EX
2 x Zygarde EX
1 x Lucario EX
1 x Groudon EX
1 x Mega Primal Groudon EX
1 x Carbink (Energy Keeper)
1 x Carbink (Safeguard)
2 x Carbink Break
1 x Tauros GX
2 x Dragonite EX

Energy (15)
4 x Strong Energy
4 x Double Colourless
7 x Fighting Energy

Trainer (30)
4 x Lysandre
3 x Switch
4 x Korrina
4 x Muscle Band
1 x Maxie's Hidden Ball Trick
1 x Chaos Tower
1 x Fighting Stadium
2 x Power Memory
2 x Professors Letter
1 x N
2 x Pokemon Center Lady
3 x Professor Kukui
2 x Pokemon Fan Club

I understand fighting deck normally dont have normal type but i thought that dragonite does such good damage for 2 x double colourless and with the sun and moon i added Tauros GX as i felt i'm losing out not having 1 GX ability for my deck

as i said i'm new and just need some guidance that wont cost me $100's to rebuild the whole thing

Cheers

Err, this isn't a standard deck. Korrina, Muscle Band and Lucario EX are all expanded only. Korrina being expanded only in particular really, really hurts fighting type archetypes in standard. The advent of GX cards also really hurts Safeguard Carbink, and it's only going to become more of a problem over time as more are added.

Mega Groudon needs some hardcore stall to support him which also makes him basically expanded only since the best stall tools like robosub and wobb PHF are expanded now. Even if you had the tools, running 1/1 without a spirit link is sketch even with Maxie's, usually in a Primal Groudon deck you want two of them up, tons of stall to support them, then when you're down to 3 prize cards remaining you want to sweep out your bench and force them to fight through 2 powered up Groudons.

Maxie's isn't worth running unless you have stage 2 evolutions to play with it. Most people who run Maxie's also run a Gallade BKT, but it's hard to pull this off in standard due to a lack of battle compressor. A lack of VS Seekers further reduces the likelihood that you can actually get Maxie's off with a played down hand, as a rule you should always run 4 VS Seekers in any format where they are legal unless you're playing item lock. While not a 99 cent card, you can get them for like $5-8 each which isn't horrible. I'd argue that they're more valuable than Shaymin in terms of increasing deck consistency.

If you want to run fighting type in standard, Passimian/Mew FAC is probably the best deck right now and it's actually fairly affordable since none of its core cards are expensive themselves. A quick budget skeleton:

Passimian x4
Mew FAC x4
Oranguru x2

Nest Ball x4
Fighting Fury Belt x3
Float Stone x2
Special Charge x4
VS Seeker x4
Revive x2

Sycamore x4
N x2
Lysandre x2
Teammates x2
Brigette x1

Sky Field x4

Double Colorless Energy x4

That's 48 cards, you could tech the rest to your personal taste. The only expensive cards in the deck are VS seekers, everything else should be obtainable for $1-2.

Kietharr,

Thanks heaps for that mate, i have only been playing the the last month against my mates so still have allot to learn, even what a standard deck is!
thanks for the idea of the new cheaper deck, it just seems like i have wasted a fair bit of effort and cash to not be able to use the zygarde ex regirock ex and the carbink break (even if the carbink is now pretty useless)

Is there anyway of adapting those cards into some form or deck or you really think i'm best to sell them and start over, it just seems that carbink break's energy from discard pile and regirocks ability on the bench (especially if muscle bands are no longer allowed) seems even more important?

Thanks again

Given the cards you have listed above, I'd suggest you also consider building a deck around the Zygarde EX and Carbink BREAK. I currently run a deck centered around:

4 Zygarde EX
3 Carbink (Safeguard)
3 Carbink BREAK

To this core, you could add the Regirock EXs; however, those may be more of a nuisance than the +10 damagae output boost each provides. This is due to their "heavy" Retreat Cost which your opponents will try to use against you. So, as a result, you would need "extra" switching cards in your deck like Escape Rope, Olympia, and Switch to get these Pokémon out of the active position.

Tauros GX would be a solid addition; but, you'll want to include a Ninja Boy so you can "sneak attack" with it too.

Adding to the above core Pokémon, consider:

3 Regirock EX
1 Tauros GX

For Item and Supporters, consider:

1 Brock's Grit
1 Delinquent - to help counter opponent's Stadium, as well as disrupting his/her hand
1-2 Escape Rope - switching card
2-3 Fighting Fury Belt
1-2 Float Stone - free retreat Tool
2 Lysandre - switches out opponent's Active for a benched Pokémon of your choosing
3 Max Elixir - accelerates energy attachment
3 N - card-draw Supporter that affects both players
3 Nest Ball - gets Basic Pokémon
1 Ninja Boy
2 Olympia - Supporter-based switching card
2 Pokémon Center Lady
3 Professor Sycamore - dumps your hand and allows you to draw 7 cards; primary card-draw Supporter
2 Prof Kukui - supplemental card-draw Supporter and damage output booster
3 Trainer's Mail - enhances deck operations consistency
3 Ultra Ball - gets any Pokémon
4 VS Seeker - allows you to retrieve discarded Supporter

For Stadiums (2-3 total), consider:

Chaos Tower
Faded Town
Parallel City

For energy, consider:

8-9 Fighting
4 Strong

Now, you can rebuild (on paper) your legal Standard deck with some of the suggestions to arrive at a 60-card deck. Afterwards, re-post your revised list for further feedback.

Also, search this Forum of other Zygarde-Carbink decks for reference too.

I hope you find these comments helpful.

tuxedoblack you sir are a legend!

Thanks heaps for that, being able to tweak what i already have into a legit Standard deck is very exciting (and allot cheaper)

I will be playing in a few nights so will post my new deck then, i wont have gotten any VS seeker or the other trainers as of yet but will look at slowly adding them to my deck going forward.

I Only have the 2 Zygarde ex and can play a non standard deck as its just with mates so will probably stay with Korrina, Muscle Bands and Lucario EX just until i get new pokemon to replace them.

Thanks again!
