Which one should I get; Final Fantasy XIII or Pokemon SoulSilver?
Please don't say both, as I won't have the money for both by then.

I would go with Final Fantasy XIII.

All the pokemon games are variations of the same thing. And HG/SS are just re makes of the old ones.

I myself plan on getting both, but If I had to choose I would go with FF XIII.

FFXIII. Then, when you get the money, SoulSilver. FFXIII because it doesn't really lose its shine right away. I mean sure, there is a lot to do with Soul Silver, but once you do it all-it isn't as fun. Its shine wears off. In FFXIII, there is probably a BILLION side quests, to keep you entertained. It takes about 16 hours to beat Soul Silver, and about 50 to beat FFXIII, this is if you go slowly through both of the main stories for each game.

lol side quests

I've not played HGSS before, and that's only because it's a Pokemon game (which are oh so repetitive and unoriginal by now; even if it's a remake of my favourite game, I just can't be bothered), but I'd say get FFXIII too. That is if you're not those kind of Americans who love non-linear RPGs.

Wow, that's REALLY tough!

If I could only get one, I'd have to say FFXIII (assuming you weren't turned off of playing it after some bad word from Japan). However, this is only because I'd rather get the more expensive item out of the way first. As much as I like my Final Fantasy, I'd probably enjoy HGSS far more.

I's get Pokemon SoulSilver. I think Final Fantasy is really dumb. SoulSilver has what I have been looking for since last June.

Easily FFXIII. Much better game ;P You've seen 2 billion pokemon games. You haven't seen FINAL FANTASY XIII!!! Much better story/gameplay/sidequests/ect.

Pokemon SoulSilver by far, because I stand Final Fantasy game.

I say you get what you want to get more, but if you can't make that decision, I'm just going to repeat what everyone else said and say FFXIII. Even though I never played FF. XD

I had the same problem(well I was planning on Heartgold)...I ended up getting FFXII. I never tried any FF games, and for some reason, HG wasn't completely pulling me in (plus my friends said they wouldn't be able to get it), and I acted on impulse. I was at Target, and saw buying FF gave you a free $10 gift card ($5 one for HG/SS). Not to mention I've been reading reviews and articles on it. I plan on getting HG later on, maybe used or if it goes down in price.

I'm glad I did. It is a bit slow at first and and hard to learn, but once you get in father and the hang of it, it's awesome. It's a beautiful looking game too, graphics change between gameplay and cut scene, but still great. Dialogue is a bit iffy, and plot is confusing, but a quick google search helps. :p

I'm definitely getting SoulSilver, just kinda depends on my friends since they don't battle on the DS that much anymore at least like the TCG anyway which is a shame.

I've never been huge on the Final Fantasy series when growing up cause I was more of a Nintendo/Sega fanboy playing Zelda: Link to the Past, Super Metroid, Sonic 1,2,3, and Sonic/Knuckles.

I've had a hard time trying to decide which games I would get. Since like 10 games I wanted were all released within 1-2 months apart.
I'd say get FF13, but Pokemon SoulSilver is great.
With the Pokéwalker and all the new features, it should be amazing.

I'll leave this open for more discussion, since the date is closer.

dmaster out.

I really didn't see the appeal in the PokeWalker. "Take your Pokemon wherever you go!" I thought that was the point of a "handheld system. o_O

Don't get me wrong, it is kind of interesting, and the game itself does have many awesome new features (You actually use the touchscreen =O), but at the same time, I feel a bit cheated. A lot of these things should have been in Platinum, if not in D/P from the start.

....I'm still gonna find a way to get it if possible.... -_-

If it was my decision I would buy SS, being a dedicated Pokemon fan and for pure love for the Johto region. I will not probably get the same buzz as I did when I saw my beloved Kanto Pokemon mixing with these new but brilliant new Pokemon. Still, I will love the Johto reason with a childish grin on my face as I see the region once again in new graphics.

Depends what you like more though really: Pokemon or Final Fantasy. I don't really know much about Final Fantasy, I only got the recent Crystal Bearers one at the moment, my dad kind of got me into the Nintendo craze (if you can call it that) by showing me the Mario Bros. on the holy NES.

Where does your heart tell you to go? =P

I heard FF XIII was really super good, but idk, if Pokemon has been your thing longer (like for me), I'd go for it. I'd try to get both if possible, but it's obviously not lol.

dmaster out.

No love for Dragon's Quest, everybody in the U.S. seems to favor the Final Fantasy series over Dragon Quest but why? What's wrong with the Dragon Quest games that makes it less popular than the Final Fantasy games?

The animation and character designs were made by Akira Toriyama, same guy who made the Dragonball series. Furthermore it seems like a great RPG Series and speaking of which I've heard of a new Dragon Quest game coming out soon for the PS3.

I'd easily say Soulsilver, I find it a very fun game. In my opinion the best pokemon game in a long time.

Heartgold. Why does everyone hate on this version so much? D:

As much as I enjoyed FF games for their rich storylines, I can argue that I think that SS would be the better choice. Johto looks absolutely FANTASTIC. The little touches are wonderful, like having any Pokemon follow you around and react to the environment, like splashing in water or dancing in the rain (NOT TO MENTION THEY HUG YOU RANDOMLY IT IS BEYOND CUTE), the minigames are really addicting, the touch-screen layout is far better than DPPt (I can run wherever I want, without having to hold B just by touching a set button on screen? YES PLEASE.), the music's gotten some really nice updating, and I found Johto to be one of the more enjoyable, realistic storylines available for traditional Pokemon games (Team Rockets Grunts could make Team Galactic's Cyrus cry aaaaanyday. Srslynewworldlolwhut?)

Oh, and you totally have this one point where you dress up as a Rocket. And you get a photo on your PC to prove it.

Be warned that Crystal enjoys Team Neo Rocket as the badguys way too much apparently

Seriously. If you have played GSC before, you will really really like this game.

Also, it seems that I am the slowest player here when it comes to beating Pokemon games :/ I'm 16 hours in and I'm still leveling to beat Morty.
