Ruling Flailing Gyarados

Dragon DNA simpley states that it does 30 more damage to the active Pokémon. As it doesn't do any damage, it can't do more damage. Thus, Fail fails to do any damage (lol).

Note: only read this if you don't believe me.
An attack like Vigoroth's Fury Swipes let's you flip coins. If it has 2 Pluspower, but Zero Heads, it wouldn't do anything. Pluspower is the same, It adds damage as long as the attack does damage.[/i]

Actually if you bothered to read the rulebook it clearly states the order in which damage modifiers should be applied and also clearly states "if at any point this is 0 your turn is over". Check it.

... o_O...

4 Feraligator (however u spell it)
1 Gyarados delta metal and lightning with delta reactor on...
Nidoran (F) DF with 4 plus powers and a SC does call for family

The forumula to get the damage is: (00000000000000000000000000.00000 X 0.00) divided by 12312419678456754635234

However.. if it was nidoran(m) doing peck with 4 plus powers 4 special darkness and 1 SC it's:
10 base damage plus 40+10+40+40+10 = 150 (STFU SALAMENCE PK)

0_o That was a really random post. But yes, it is annoying. Do something more useful with your Pluspowers though, otherwise it just fails... MAKE IT A NIDOKING.

Simple question. I have 1 energy slapped on my MT Gyarados. I use Dragon DNA to go for Flail, but have no damage counters. Will I do 0 or 30 damage?

You would do no damage because there is no damage on it to begin with.

As Houndoom stated earlier. It is like Pluspower and Strength Charm, you cannot add to something that has 0 base power.

But those are TOOLS. This is an ABILITY. We might as well get WPM to answer this (hes busy, I know). Look, I'll ask the people in Ohio. I'll, see what they think I guess...

PP is not a tool, dark energy is not a tool, and don't forget about Feraligatr d/ Gyarados d's bodies. They ALSO don't add to 0 damage, so that's a trainer, an energy, a tool, and 2 bodies that don't add damage to 0. And I talked to 3 judges at my BR, they also said no (and apparently, you can't retreat with boost 0.o). It doesn't add to nothing.

A judge ruled on this already and you can't add any more damage if the base damage is 0.
