Forum Changes

Very displeased with the new Website Feedback. If someone wants to speak up and get their ideas to the mods, PM one, and the mods should discuss things with you. There's no need for a private forum to chat with mods. One of the most important aspects of Website Feedback was the ability for members to discuss things together. Cutting off communication among users is only hurting a very young, growing community.

Many of the forums I frequent have a similar system in place. This does encourage people to be vocal about their opinion, because the staff shouldn't and won't belittle their opinion like the more vocal members potentially, and definitely, do if they disagree with it. With the new method, those quieter members will share their views more, and the vocal members always have, and there is nothing stopping them from doing so.

Communication is far more important than the giving timid members their own forum, when said timid members can simply PM a mod with their ideas.

Compromising communication for the comfort of certain members is a poor choice, when a perfectly legitimate alternative method is available for them.

If absolutely necessary, you could make a subforum within website feedback for those who want privacy.

Or they can just PM.

Well what we can do. (Not sure if this is a good idea but at least I tried) We could have a sub forum in the Forum Portal called Suggestion box where we as members can suggest only things that we think should work toward the site. If we use bot the hidden thread and the Suggestion box we at least can drop our ideas XD.

Do you see the sub-forum in the Forum Portal that is called "Website Feedback"? You know, the one that looks completely empty?

That is the suggestion box.

Also, I feel a bit stupid for asking this, having been around so long, but why is Satoshi-Kun a hop here?

I had been halfopped by WPM sometime around late 2006/early 2007 (wow, 5+ years ago!), and had helped with various things back then (from helping researching java stuff for WPM to keep the chat from being banned from Dejatoons, to running the statbot for a little while). I also used to be someone who was known to be online at many hours of the day, so even if I wasn't watching the chat, people knew that they could message me and have someone who was able to solve problems (such as ban evaders, problem users, etc) when they popped up and nobody else was around.

Unfortunately, life has changed for me since then. Well, not exactly unfortunately, as I have a job that takes up more of my time now, but it makes me money. Most of my years as an more active halfop on the IRC was spent with a job that I hated, and didn't give me nearly enough hours, and some of that time was spent unemployed as well. Now I spend my time working in the grooming salon of a pet store in my town, which can be interesting. But this isn't exactly a thread about "who is Sato, and what is he up to," so I'll leave it at that.

Anyways, you coulda always just sent me a message and asked me about why I was a halfop, who halfopped me, etc, I would have been more than happy to tell ya!

As for anyone who needs to be in touch with me, I'm right here, and others know other places to find me.

If he's not active anymore you can probably demote him.

Five years is a very long time in internet years, but I'm still around. Still the same AIM, you coulda said hi and asked me what was up.

Yeah it should be changed really. It is pointless to call it Website Feedback since it is no longer made for that XD.
