Forums Loading Slower For Anyone Else?

Ever sense yesterday afternoon, the fourms have been really glitchy. The site often freezes and its taking me 15+ minutes to edit a post or write a post that would take less than 5 minutes. Anyone else experiencing this? It's just happening on the Pokebeach fourms for me and not any other website.

RE: Why is Pokebeach Fourms so slow?

It's not happening to me- maybe it's because I go on this site on my iPad? But really I don't know why this is happening to you.

I dont see anything thats different, works perfectly fine for me. Maybe do a virus scan or something? I think that clearing the cache helps lag, but I am not sure if it helps at all, so take it with a grain of salt.

It could be a variety of reasons. I haven't had any issues on my end whenever I've had time to get on. I'm thinking its more related to your computer though since I have not experienced this problem.

It can be caused by the table in the database being locked, but I'm fairly certain the post table is set to Innodb meaning the whole table shouldn't lock, just the row being affected.

Which browser are you using?

I've been using Chrome, and I've noticed having trouble with posts/threads that feature a large number of GIFs - running into them causes it to retain a whole bunch of them in memory. Finding the relevant process in the task manager and removing it solves the lag problem, but it also might crash the page, so you should make sure to finish up any post before trying it. If you're using, say, Firefox, it's a bit more complicated, but closing all your open Pokébeach tabs before opening any new ones should have a similar effect.

Pretty sure the problem you're describing is the GIFs thing, though, since most of this forum's user's wouldn't encounter it, and therefore wouldn't be affected in the same way.
