Discussion Garbador's impact on the meta

Beevalanche sounds fun actually! I might build it to kick around. I bet it is more consistent than the Trevenant / Garbodor decks I have seen because the Bees are just generally more consistent.
Let me know how it goes, and if you want to see my list look up Guardians Rising Garbodor/Vespiquen in the Deck Garage. Also, good luck fitting everyone in, that was a nightmare.
Have fun! :D

FayID, great idea with M Mewtwo paired with GRI Garb. You're right, I also haven't seen M Mewtwo paired with Garb anywhere. I agree that it could be a better forcer than Tauros or Lele. But M Mewtwo as a standalone is DOA.

Totally agree. It is similar to why it doesn't get played as much in expanded. Night March absolutely owns it. While GUR / GRI (not sure what the official short version is LOL) Garb isn't as fast as Night March, it doesn't really need to be in order to blast M Mewtwo.

Mewtwo by itself is stupid now. Another thing that (shockingly) implodes Mewtwo is Golisopod. I play VesPod (Vespiquen/Golisopod) and if the Mewtwo player doesn't get a god hand and you don't dead draw, a Choice Banded Golisopod takes early knockouts on Mewtwo-EXs putting you massively ahead for the rest of the game. Every time I've gone against Mewtwo i've won Prize Trades 4-1 and just pumped up Vespiquen to OHKO the single Mega Mewtwo they get out. RIP.

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOUR LIST

I feel like Decidueye/Tauros should be able to handle Garb pretty well. I'm thinking about constructing a list with very few items. Maybe 3-4 Tapu Leles and some Wally/Misty's determination/Skyla and maybe 4 Ultra balls 1 revitalizers and 2 level balls? How's that sound?

I actually got so tired of seeing Garb every game, that I made a zero item deck. Haha.

It was significantly more consistent than I thought it would be...
Though it's not a Tier 1 deck by any means, it definitely counters Garb~
Especially since it gets hit for weakness..!

If anyone wants the list, here it is!
Be warned, this has very, very little playtesting done with it; so feel free to change it up if you do wanna play it~
Oh! Also, this deck doesn't use anything from before BREAKpoint, because I'm practicing for post-rotation.

Please don't take this deck too seriously.

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOUR LIST
Here you go :)

Pokemon (27):

4x Vespiquen
4x Combee
3x Golisopod
3x Wimpod
1x Machoke (Blocks bench damage and placement of counters, namely Oricorio and Decidueye)
1x Machop
1x Shaymin-EX (works fine)
2x Oranguru (very good here)
4x Klefki
4x Unown

Trainers (25):

4x Sycamore
2x N (I've been testing Mallow here, combined with Unown or Acro Bike it's amazing, but it's horrid early game)
1x Lysandre
3x Acro Bike
3x VS Seeker
4x Ultra Ball
2x Forest of Giant Plants
1x Revitalizer
1x Float Stone
2x Choice Band
2x Special Charge

Energy (8):

4x Basic Grass Energy
4x Double Colorless Energy

This has about a 75% winrate on TCGO, would be higher if I didn't lag out every other match -_-
This basically counters Garb by trading with it. If this couldn't trade Garb would stomp it. But it can, which throws a bit of a wrench in their plans. Golisopod ends their Tauroses as long as it has a Choice Band, putting you ahead in the prize race. Only play Shaymin in this match if you absolutely have to, and you should win. Revitalizer and Special Charge are also very important in this match.
The great thing about this deck is how hard it steamrolls EX/GX decks. A turn two Choice Banded Golisopod (not that hard) basically secures you the game against things like Turbo Dark that can't easily summon 160 damage turn two and keep it going after their main fighter gets oneshotted. Field Blower was where Forest is originally to get rid of Belts, and both have been extremely useful at times. Hope you liked the deck! :)

Hey FayID I think you're right pairing M Mewtwo with Garb GRI. I'm only 3-0 with it so far but it's been great.

Yep. It is pretty nasty. I am still tweaking my deck. I do wonder how much of it is people expecting to see the other garb. The list has seen so few changes over the course of this season that I think people are pretty tired of playing it and just assume it is an ability lock.

I played against a couple of trash decks today and the weakness does suck, but M Mewtwo dominates drampa and tauros. I split my games against it and that was encouraging. Makes me think it might just be a matter of practice rather than an auto loss.

Let me know how your additional games go! Your perspective on the same deck will be awesome.

I like this! Did you use Chandelure's ability at all or just to attack with it? I feel like Chandelure's Acro Bike ability would combo really well with Mallow, i've been testing Mallow+Acro Bike and it works well mid to late game.

Ideally, you want to get 1-2 Chandelures up on your Bench, view their hand with Gumshoos (so you can choose the most optimal supporter to play), and attack with Mew~

Though Chandelure has more health, and gives less prizes, it's important to have the ability to go through your deck~

Also, I love the Mallow synergy!
Especially since it lets you see what's prized, and discard accordingly~
I usually discard the HCTR first, it's really only there for if your Chandelures are prized.

It's like a mini battle compressor!

Yeah, I've been testing two Mallows instead of two Ns in my Vespiquen deck, because it already has Unowns and Acro Bikes. The Acro Bike+Mallow combo actually won me a game once, I used Mallow to get a DCE and a Klefki, used Acro Bike, discarded the Klefki for ten more damage (exactly the amount I needed to one shot their Mega Mewtwo) picked up the DCE I needed to attack, and won! I think Mallow will actually be a permanent addition to that deck. Mallow also synergizes with things like Octillery to pick up what you searched for. However, early game it's kind of a dead card and often gets Sycamored, but late-to-mid game it's really helpful. Anyways, I think I may have to try my hand at the itemless deck, great idea!
