Card of the Day: Gardevoir

Heyy.... what if you pair Gardevoir ND and Gothitelle (Magic Room) EPO together? Now they can't use Catcher!

Geez! I thought it was worth considering at least. I know its an almost staple rule NOT to have 2 different Stage 2's, on account of consistency, but I thought locking your opponent's Item cards out could possibly redeem that weakness.
2 Stage 2's worked well for David Cohen in 2011, for instance. Hell, he even had a Pokemon LEGEND!
But anyway, more on topic. I think its at least worth testing. not everybody runs 4 Mewtwo EX or anything, and he's cheap enough to tech in that same Deck, too. When you lock Items, you can't get Catchered out, your opponent can't Switch or deny prizes with Super Scoop Up, can't use Balls, can't Computer Search. Can't heal with Max Potion.
Seriously. Item lock takes a LOT away from your opponent, and that should definitely give time for Ralts to evolve and stay safe on the Bench. And then you just decimate with Mad Kinesis. Catcher KO any Mewtwo EX before it becomes a threat.

So...you weren't joking? I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up.
I'm really not sure how adding a stage 2 with a below average attack who is OHKOed by mewtwo helps a deck that is already slow and mewtwo-weak. They don't need to catcher when they can just OHKO everything on your field without you KOing consistently back because you have no actual acceleration and even with Gardy out your attacker requires 2 or more energy (plus its a stage 2 so good luck swarming them).
The decks worked back then because there were no EXes that simply one shot everything on the field. Magneboar was plausable only because it couldn't be OHKOed by the popular basic attacker at the time, Reshiram, and it could OHKO back, so, with luck and a very fine tuned list it could win. The opposite is true of Gardevoir/Gothitelle: as opposed to making up for less swarmability with winning the prize trade, you lose the prize trade AND the consistency. Item locking your opponent for a turn here or there does not help your consistency, and, because you require a stage 2 up for it to work, its not going to hinder their consistency enough either.
And nobody runs 4 Mewtwo in anything. Nobody ever has. It really doesn't matter; one is enough to wreck this deck with just a DCE. Also, any other basic attacker wins the prize trade with you too, just most of them don't OHKO (you're still trading stage 2s for basics though).
