Or maybe the eyes resemble the Dragon eyes, one that's black and one that's....tan.
Or maybe it's like Zoroark, where each side represents an illusion of the other. Like in the white version, we see the black eye as the illusion of a technologically advanced world, where as in the black version, we see the illusion of a more rural world. It's like two different dimensions that are counterpart to each other, desiring what that counterpart has. The problem is, it is only an illusion in their minds.
