RE: Writer's Lounge

Why don't we contemplate on how we can just get more critics?

You mean like a critique rubric?

RE: Writer's Lounge

... posting in the thread? What's the need for some alternative method?

EDIT: Oh, a template? Ehh... I'm against that for a few reasons.

RE: Writer's Lounge

I was going to establish a beta mentoring system for writers and critics early in my mod carreer, but decided against it because we don't have enough capable writers and critics here. The good ones we did have basically left a long time ago.

RE: Writer's Lounge

A rubric can be a good idea, since it'll give a set of points on what would-be critics should cover. However, on the flip side, it gives an unneeded rigidity to critiquing, and in some cases it's unwise to have that; critiquing is generally flexible and how it's expressed changes from story to story, person to person.

I don't think I'd be against a demo rubric being drawn up, but at the same time, I wouldn't make it a mandatory thing - somewhat like the Card of the Day questions in the TCG section, i.e. you do not have to go by these questions, but they're good basic guiding points.

RE: Writer's Lounge

why a rubric? why can't we just go with guidelines? Suggest possible things to talk about rather than just the spelling and the grammar.

EDIT: Wow, my right Shift key is failing me here.

RE: Writer's Lounge

Then use your left silly :p

I don't see why we don't have set guidelines for critiquing though.

^That's why.

Hey, I am making a fanfic and need some help. What exactly do Houndoom eat? (I mean if they were in real life)

In the anime, they had at least one time where they ate a type of dog food. But, realistically, I would presume they eat meat since they are akin to wolves. That means they would actually kill prey in the wild, if that is what you meant.

RE: Writer's Lounge

Oh, okay. Well, what type of meat?

Do they eat rat? or Beaver? I was thinking of a scene where a Houndoom hunts a Bidoof or Rattatta.

Small and large prey would make sense. Wolves hunt in packs to take down deer and elk, so I can imagine a similar scenario with Houndoom taking down Stantler or Deerling/Sawsbuck. A solitary Houndoom may go after Rattata or Bidoof as quick prey, though.

RE: Writer's Lounge

Look at them... They are hell hounds.
-Smaller Pokemon that annoy them (for a snack)
-Anything that's smaller then them

Also, you may want to portray that they hunt like wolves on steriods. I mean just watch Lucario And The Mystery Of Mew

This is just a heads-up, but the WC rules may be getting revised within the next two weeks. If there is anything you want added, removed, or edited, NOW IS THE TIME TO LET ME KNOW! Not everything is going to change, but some things will.

RE: Writer's Lounge

Not that I know of anything that I can rattle off from the top of my head, but have you considered of noting something below a rule on what occurs when a member breaks it? That would certainly be a great addition to the rule revision for new members or first-time posters. If you have no idea what I trying to suggest, refer to the PB rules. You'll know it when you see it.

Actually, I think I will add punishments to some rules, but not everything covered in the rules has a consequence for violation.

RE: Writer's Lounge

Not a rule, but we need encouragement for critiquing.
