I'm going to sleep soon, so I'll cut to the chase. By a 65.5% majority, Genesect has been banned from the OU tier. If any of you guys know me, you will know that my burning hatred for Genesect knows no bounds. Teambuilding will no longer be as simple as "slap Genesect and instant okay team". There will be no more annoyingly hard to pin down Scarf set or broken Rock Polish set that just rapes everything up the butthole. This change will, in my opinion, drastically improve the metagame, but I'll get more into that tomorrow. ^_^

I really didn't find the Scarf set broken. It was obnoxiously good, and was incredibly easy to put on a team. Rock Polish set is absolutely insane and broke speed tiers about as much as Excadrill did, so good riddance I say.

Also only 65.5% majority. I was expecting somewhere in the realms of 80 judging by the posts in the suspect testing thread haha.

I'm a little bummed that it's gone though, because weatherless teams with Genesect really gave rain teams a run for their money. Genesect could really enhance any team, because how how easy it was to fit in.

Really interesting to see how this changes the meta. Hopefully it goes in a positive direction.

So I only got to play three days with him in the meta. Good thing I wasn't using him though. :p I didn't have big problems with him, but my Sawsbuck will love this I guess.

I have updated the Pokemon Online Server tiers to reflect the ban.

I completely agree with the ban of Genesect. I'm just surprised it took this long for it to happen.

I agree with this entirely. Look, my Radioactive team finally is able to play again, as it suffered from a RP Gene weakness.

I have mixed feelings about the ban because I enjoyed using it and hated playing against. That parasite was so much fun to use alongside RP Special Landorus in a double RP team, plus the Scarf set was often the glue for my Sand and weatherless teams, but it gets to be hard to trap. Without hazards, you were prey for a U-turn fiend.

So, I guess I'm happy, now that Thundurus-T, Reuniclus and Hydreigon, and Scizor can reclaim spots higher up, but I will miss it.

I think I waited way too long to build a Genesect team. I haven't even picked up the event yet from the dude in the Pokemon Center. Now unless I'm playing Ubers, I will never get the chance to play him in OU unless he by some miracle comes back down.

But do I disagree with Genesect being banned?

Thank god. Now I can finally stop using shed shell Heatran.

...although it's a shame that my only OU team atm has genesect on it :x

All of those teams that were Genesect weak will have a much easier time on the ladder now. Meaning EVERY team.

I do agree with this ban, along with the fact that it took a little too long. Hopefully we'll see some slight increase in the diversity of teams, something I always look forward to after a ban.

I've gotta disagree with the ban. Sure Genesect got good coverage and a boost to boot, but the most common set out there is Choice Scarf, and if Genesect isn't U-turning and you can predict what it'll use it'll pretty much be forced into a tight spot. Heatran also says hi. As well as now I'll have to find a new member for my The Plot to Bomb the Pan Handle team >:[

Scarf was just good. Not great. Just good.

Rock Polish was the set that got it banned. That set wrecked speed tiers moreso than Excadrill did (outspeeds Scarfed Everything after a boost), and was a nightmare to switch into unless you were Blissey or Heatran (and those don't fit on every team).

Well, if you're saying my Heatran/Tyranitar/Blissey handled Genesect, there was often a Duggy waiting to double switch on you and ruin your counter and the match. Scarf, however, wasn't really terribly good. It U-Turned every single freaking time, and if it didn't you have a boosting sweeper or Magnezone that punishes Genesect for locking itself into a move.

Anyone else think this'll make Kyurem-B much better and even possibly send it back to Ubers?

^If Scizor didn't exist then yes. Unfortunately it will just raise the usage of Scizor and Heatran and Jirachi and other random steels, so I don't think so. no matter how much I want kyurem to go back to ubers. base 170 is wth

Why bring up Kyurem-b lol? It was one of few offensive Pokemons that actually could handle Genesect. not weak to any of its attacks, great bulk, enough power to make any attempts at switching in a pipe dream, etc etc. Going off that, I don't really see why Kyurem-b relates to this discussion in any way. Remove a Pokemon you stack up well against and get better? Nope, doesn't work like that sadly.

Kyurem-b is both a great and terrible Pokemon at the same time. It has great power, but unfortunately it comes with a mix of disappointment with typing, movepool, and simply the fact it's a slow Pokemon in a fast, offensive metagame. Maybe if the metagame wasn't fast I would join the butthurt wagon, but thankfully that is not the case.

Get back on Genesect. You people had your chance to discuss Kyurem-b in the banlist thread. >:[

I probably should've meantioned the scarf set.

Anyways, I'm pretty glad genesect is out. It lets me build at peace.
