Posts MUST be several sentences long with proper grammar and spelling or they will be deleted - this forum is to discuss specific cards so other people can learn about their potential in the current metagame.

5/5
one of the most popular prime. great new play style. fun, and competitive

5. How's the artwork?
artwork looks wicked

1. This card is well worth playing on its own, as it removes like crazy, and lost world puts its destruction to use

2. LOSTGAR, the only metagame keyed on this card

3.Spiritomb TR for reloading opponents hand to destroy again
Mew Prime TR for alternate, shorter wait to hurl into darkness
Mr.Mime COL for no wasted attacks

4. 5/5 for sure
This card has changed Pokemon TCG forever

5. The artwork is not the pretiest thing ive seen, but it is still pretty good

Overall-5/5

1. How does the card stand on its own? Is it good, bad, or have potential? Is it worth being played?
This card was one of the most hyped up cards in the current metagame, and with good reason, it could possibly dominate any deck, provided the deck it's in is fast enough. However, it could still carry over into the newer, slower metagame with Black and White coming out, with the new rule sets. Until it gets rotated out, it will probably be the biggest metagame changer since SPs.

2. What popular metagame decks could it be used in?
Lostgar is the first thing to come to mind, but it could probably handle its own in any zoning/sniping deck, 130 HP, being able to snipe, and its Pokebody isn't something to scoff at. You can't, like most cards, shoehorn it into any old deck, I'm sure.

3. What combos can you use it with? How so?
Mr. Mine could help bring this into play, especially against Gyarados if they haven't discarded all of their Magikarps yet. If one Gyarados gets knocked out, however, it's automatically game-set-and-match if Gengar is the active Pokemon. Hurl Into Darkness can also work well with Seeker. You know when you play one something important's going to be pulled back, most of the time Uxie, or any other draw power card. Easy pickings. Lost World is also a great card to have with this one, if it isn't a main card in LostGar already, well that'd be silly.

4. Give it a rating, and explain why you have given it that rating. You can also rate the card by rating the thread itself (out of 5 stars).
4.5/5, that x2 Dark weakness isn't totally avoidable, but it's still not raising any red flags. Yet. If one were to look at the Player's Sandbox section of the forum, one may see at least two threads talking about "how to beat LostGar".

5. How's the artwork?
The close-up shot with his tongue hanging out makes him look mischievous, but at the same time, the glint in his eye and the swirling colors around it give it a sinister appearance. The art work alone could send most decks running with its tail between its legs, if it had one. Or legs. One of the more appealing primes to look at, without being boring.

I pulled this card today. How coincidental.

1. It stands well on its won. Its Body pretty makes your opponent’s Knockouts go to the Lost Zone. The first attack is devastating, it can get rid of all Pokemon in your opponent’s hand and sends that to the Lost Zone. The second attack places 4 damage counters in any way you want. Really valuable overall.

2. Lostgar. From what I hear is really good.

3. Lost World. To win the game after using Hurl into Darkness several succesive times.

Seeker. To use with Hurl into Darkness to get rid of what went in your opponent’s hand. Also good with Lost World.

4. 4.5/5. It is a really good desruptive card that can permanently disrupt your opponent’s hand with HiD. Combine that with Lost World and Seeker and it is a force to be reckoned with.

5. Don’t really like it. The tongue out makes it look really ugly, IMO.

1. How does the card stand on its own? Is it good, bad, or have potential? Is it worth being played?
Is it good? Hell yeah! A card that might rule the format by it's own! It got a decent HP, nice attack and it's retreat cost are nice. A overall nice card.
Disrupting your opponent by removing his pokémon is always nice.

2. What popular metagame decks could it be used in?
Lostgar, Mewgar and so on. Nothing more to say.

3. What combos can you use it with? How so?
Lost World, nothing more to say. No known tech against it until know...
Lost World is fast, many people here say: "Meh! You can knock it out faster than it removes 6 cards". Really?
If tried this little ghost and with Palkia G lv. X and Absol G Lv. X you can get to 6 cards in no time. I think many people just play the wrong list with this card.
Knocking it out with 2 hits is good, but you only need up to 6 atks to win. So you set the clock of wining from 4 (if lucky with absol G) to 8 turns. You disrupt your opponents evolutions and so on and how do you want to win, if you have no Pokémon to play?

4. Give it a rating, and explain why you have given it that rating. You can also rate the card by rating the thread itself (out of 5 stars).
4,8/5 Since there isn't the perfect card. But this little ghost is one of the worst thing Nintendo let lose on the TCG, thanks to lost world.

5. How's the artwork?
5/5 It's how Gengar should be: Nasty ;P

1. On its own, it can work as a great disruptor, 30 HP is standard for stage 2's but for a gengar, 2nd only to its LVL X counterpart. No retreat cost is great, darkness weakness is something to watch out for, Absol Prime could sink it fast, considering that it is a Basic while Gengar is a stage 2.

2. Probably Lostgar as many have stated, win via lost gar and counter Mew Prime.

3. Mew Prime to use your opponent's pokemon against them, Catastrophe is an awesome poke-body to aid it in winning via Lost World, knock out. a stage and its three pokemon in the Lost World, one more and you win. If the double battle format was still legal, it could team up with a hardhitter like Lugia Legend to knock out their pokemon and send it into the lost zone.i Or act as a finisher, curse drop with 40 dmg in counters can finish one or more pokemon, a pokemon like kyogre-groundon legend would help here, eat through their bench by doing like 120 or 150 and gengar can finish off their pokemon the next turn and use Catastrophe to banish them.
4. 4/5, something that will change the gaming scene for all we know but my only gripe is that for something so influential, it cannot hit hard by itself. Thats all, overall, something I want in my deck.
5. 5/5, my favourite prime artwork currently and looks like it'll stay that with Black and White seemingly lacking a prime.

1. How does the card stand on its own? Is it good, bad, or have potential? Is it worth being played?

130 Hp is pretty standard for a stage 2, first attack is disrutptive and works on low NRG and works better with more than 1 NRG's, Cursed Droplets doesnt put out the most damage counters as the stormfront gengar and does cost PC to use but it is helped out by its great poke body Catastrophe. weakness isnt to common so decks will have to teck specifically for it unless you play drapion/viletomb. Resistance is great, helps against the ever famous Garchomp C. Free retreat, doesn't get any better than free in this game.

2. What popular metagame decks could it be used in?

LostGar, or possibly as a teck to take out pesky lv x's like dialga's and luxray's or even magikarps, to make your matchups easier for your gengar viletomb deck

3. What combos can you use it with? How so?

Mr. Mime (search opponents hand)
Lookers Investigation (same above reason with the exception of your opponent is allowed to chose "up to" 5 cards, so if they so chose to draw only 1 you might then be at an advantage when your opponent is left with no hand)
Gengar SF or Level X (for spread and multiple knockouts)
Palkia G lv. X (palkia keeps the pokeys off the field and into the lost zone, and gengar prime takes care of the ones in your opponents hand)

4. Give it a rating, and explain why you have given it that rating. You can also rate the card by rating the thread itself (out of 5 stars).

4/5 card is pretty good, its got all the right stats, but its major problem is it doesnt hit quite heavy enough. Any deck that goes aggro or just tanks and can knockout gengar prime in 1 or 2 hits stands a really good chance of winning against it. Also not too hard to play against, load up your bench, put xtra pokeys in your deck with cards like bebe's search, and you stand a fighting chance

5. How's the artwork?

This artwork is not scary or sinister, there is no deck that will be running with its tail between it's legs. But, Gengar does look silly with his tongue hanging out, and if anyone remembes gengars 1st apperance in the cartoon that's exactly what he was, silly!
4.5/5

Ugh. Mixed opinions galore. Although I'd like to know why do some cards have the 5-question set in the first post, and others have the 6-question set.

1. How does the card stand on its own? Is it good, bad, or have potential? Is it worth being played?
On its own? You're looking at a 130 HP stage 2 with no retreat cost and a Col -20 resistance. (The Dark x2 weakness is a bit of a shame, but Dark isn't all too common.) As a card? Yes, I'd say it's definitely got potential. I've seen it played in about 3 different ways, and all of them are perfectly feasible.
2. What popular metagame decks could it be used in?
The most obvious one that comes to mind is Lost-World Gengar. Try to get several Psychic Energy onto Gengar, then start RFP Pokemon in the opponent's hand, trying to reach that magic 6 to declare yourself the winner. You can also use it in Vilegar as an aside (no more than 1 to be used), using Cursed Droplets in conjunction with Compound Pain for multiple knockouts.
3. What combos can you use it with? How so?
Lost World, obviously. One combo that is possible is to use Jirachi UL's drop power to yank Psychic Energy from the discard pile, then move it to Gengar with either Lucian's or Gardevoir PL. If the opponent has a lot of Pokemon in the hand, you can stand to get rid of 3 at once. Palkia G LV.X could also speed up the process. Another possible is to use Shadow Skip Gengar to switch to this guy after a KO, RFP the Defending Pokemon and all its stages.
4. Give it a rating, and explain why you have given it that rating. You can also rate the card by rating the thread itself (out of 5 stars).
3/5. Bleh. I mean it's good, but it doesn't do so well in tournaments, because it cannot do well in topcut whatsoever, unless the topcut is Juniors or something. (Seniors debatable, Masters impossible.) That doesn't mean that it isn't a good card. It just isn't a great card.
5. How's the artwork?
4.5/5 SUPER SCARY GHOSTLY GENGAR <3

1. How does the card stand on its own? Is it good, bad, or have potential? Is it worth being played?
-------------------------------------
Its great, even on its own. It is definitely worth being played.
--------------------------------------
2. What popular metagame decks could it be used in?
---------------------------------------
Ummm.... There already is one- LostGar.
-----------------------------------------
3. What combos can you use it with? How so?
-----------------------------------------
Lost World Stadium... I think its pretty obvious. It can be used with Mime. Jr (Call of Legends) or Absol G Lv. X (Surpreme Victors) and get rid of all of your Opponent's Pokémon and other important cards.
-----------------------------------------
4. Give it a rating, and explain why you have given it that rating. You can also rate the card by rating the thread itself (out of 5 stars).
-----------------------------------------
I'd give this card a 4.5/5. As usual, Gengar is broken. Cursed Drop, not so much. Catastrophe, also not too bad. Hurl Into Darkness. AWESOME! The only thing stopping this from getting a perfect 5/5 is Weavile G (Platinum) with its potential to OHKO this.
----------------------------------------
5. How's the Artwork?
-------------------------------------
Primes always have great artwork. 5/5 here.
