I need help. my deck isn't consistent enough to get the vileplume turn 1, and not consistent enough to get my DDE's when I need them. the lists online are mainly just skeleton lists and were just made for fan theory consistency, as I have already tested those lists. I need an experienced Giratina/Vileplume player to help me. Here's my list:

Pokémon: 16
  • 3 Giratina-EX
  • 3 Oddish
  • 3 Gloom
  • 2 Vileplume
  • 2 Shaymin-EX
  • 1 Hoopa-EX
  • 2 Regice
Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums: 34
  • 4 Professor Sycamore
  • 3 Professor Birch's Observation
  • 1 Ace Trainer
  • 2 Lysandre
  • 2 AZ
  • 1 Pokemon Fan Club
  • 1 Xerosic
  • 1 Teammates
  • 1 Team Flare Grunt
  • 1 Hex Maniac
  • 1 Pokémon Center Lady
  • 1 Cassius
  • 4 Giant Plant Forest
  • 2 Muscle Band
  • 1 Lucky Helmet
  • 2 Ultra Ball
  • 2 Level Ball
  • 3 Trainers' Mail
  • 1 VS Seeker
Energy: 10
  • 4 Double Dragon Energy
  • 4 Double Colorless Energy
  • 2 Water Energy
Strategy:

I would make the trainer list like this:

2x Tierno
2x Birch
1x Shauna
4x AZ or 3x AZ and 1 Cassius (personal choice).
2x Lysandre
1x Pokemon fan club (maybe replace this one for a third Vileplume, since you can find your Pokemon with Shaymin, Hoopa and Ultra Ball).
1x Pokemon center lady
1x Teammates
1x Hex Maniac
1x Xerosic
2x Muscle Band
4x Ultra Ball
2x Level Ball
4x Trainers Mail
2x Wally
4x Forest of Giant Plants

Total stays the same 34 trainers. Don't add Sycamore to a item lock deck with a stage 2 to be build and so much special energy. Causes lots of trouble!
Use tierno to find the missing puzzle pieces or just wally into the missing piece. Also Shaymin helps a lot more with 4x Ultra Ball in play.

This build has the highest turn 1 Vileplume outcomes as I know of:
4x Trainers Mail, 4x Ultra Ball, 2x Level Ball, 2x Wally, 2x Tierno and 4 Forest of Giant Plants.
You might also make place for a extra Vileplume, since there is a chance 2 of them are prized. 3-3-3 Vileplume line is most favorable.

Good luck with your deck!

No Professor Sycamore?

Why do you want to play Hex Maniac? That would also shut off Vileplume for a turn. What in particular are you worried about that you're trying to remedy with Hex Maniac?

I personally would find room for another Trainers' Mail. I know it's an Item, but it really helps to speed up the deck and get Vileplume going turn one.

No Professor Sycamore, since you have lots of chance that you have to discard special energy, items etc that you will need later in the game. Vile plume decks have nearly no way to retrieve anything from the discard pile, so you want to discard as less as possible.

Hex Maniac is a personal choice from topic starter, I don't have Hex Maniac in my own deck, but I play Regice / Lugia-EX / Miltank / Vileplume. So my deck is a bit different from Giratina-EX / Vileplume. I can understand wanting to shut down Vileplume for a turn in order to play items, specially when you're opponent has nothing or just 1-3 cards in the hand you can most of the time use Hex Maniac without major consequences. Topic starter can replace Hex Maniac, but must have had the reasons to put it in there in the first place. Personally I would go for a second Pokemon Center Lady for Giratina-EX. My guess the Hex Maniac is meant for Aegislash-EX, since it blocks attacks from special energy attackers, but then again Miltank is perfect for that situation.

Trainers' Mail is already in the deck at maximum :)

I definitely think Sycamore is still worth it. The Trainers' Mail bit was directed towards the OP.

I agree that shutting off Vileplume so that you can play Items can be good so that you can get rid of all of the Items in your hand and draw into the things you need, but I think that AZ does a much better job, since you can pick up Vileplume, play out your hand, and then set it back down in one turn thanks to Forest of Giant Plants. So I think the OP should take out Hex Maniac for a third AZ.
