Well, I've been thinking and I still don't know what the hell Giratina represent but i've come to a theory...
Dialga represents Time - 1 of the 4 known dimensions;
Palkia represents Space - which consists of the other 3 of the 4 known dimensions;
Since Giratina is like the forgotten one of this trio, live in the reverse world, is a ghost pokémon and appears in cemiteries, I think Giratina represents what is usually called the 5th Dimension which is sometimes called as the world of the spirits...

What do you think?

It's an interesting concept, but what you are basically saying is Giritina is one of the 5th demensions, but if we don't know about the 5th dimension then how do we know it came from the 5th dimension?

Actually, I don't know exactly what is the correct definition of the 5th dimension but what I know it that it's sometimes associated with the spirits. While the other 4 dimensions are the real world, the 5th is like "life after death" or something like that... it is not known if there really is a 5th dimension in the universe just like we don't know if there really is spirits/ghosts, that kind of stuff...
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong about the concept of the 5th dimension...
sorry if I can't explain better...

Giratina is most likely the pokemon of Death. The pokedex data for the Altered forme states that, "It appears in an ancient cemetery." Origin Forme pokedex data states that, "It was banished to the Torn World for its violence." It's also the Renegade Pokemon. Just a theory, it was a pokemon that watched over death/darkness, but tried to rebel against Dialga and Palkia. Therefore, it was banished.

Here is an article on the 5th dimension: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13070896/

"SEATTLE - The cosmos would make perfect sense … if it turns out we're living in a 10- or 11-dimensional realm where gravity is bubbling off a different plane entirely. At least that's what's emerging as the hottest concept on the frontier of physics.

Though these sound like virtually unverifiable claims, physicists are trying to come up with ways to gather evidence to back up or disprove the extradimensional theories currently in vogue. But it’ll take several years to get that evidence, if it can be gotten at all.

The claim that the cosmos has more than the four dimensions we can perceive — that is, three spatial dimensions plus time — is exotic enough. But the quest to prove that claim brings in a virtual menagerie of mysteries: mini-black holes and dark matter, gravitational waves and cosmic inflation, super-high-energy particle collisions and ultra-powerful gamma-ray bursts." - MSNBC

Just providing some info.

Also: In my opinion, Giratina is similar to the Grim Reaper of Pokemon.
"Violence" "Renegad" "Cemetary"

Giratina is just FREAKING WEIRD! it distorts time and space (on mount coronet, in Platinum), but since there is time (or something like it) and space (or, again, something like it) in the Distortion World, it somehow seems to replace time and space.

I think the making of Giratina and the thought of the creation has gone WAY too far. It is getting so confusing I don't understand it. Personally I think the dimension legends are rubbish. I don't like the idea.

Dusknoir is already the Reaper Pokemon so why would Giratina be the one that get's the Death label? =/

I believe it stands for a dimension or concept we as humans aren't yet capable of understanding. Know how vague the story about Giratina is and how a-okay it's portrayed in the last movie.

Why did it rebel?
Did it rebel?
Why do people think/know it's a Renegade Pokemon while so little is know about Giratina?
It's signiture move is Shadow Force yet nothing implies that it controls Shadows or something like that. Though it has been banned to a world that exists in our world's shadow.

Giratina is the anti mater pokemon. Dialga is the time, Palkia is space, and Giratina is the anti time/space. All three have separate but equal dimensions, I think the next movie sums it up.
