Go To Prerelease Without Playing?

I don't know how to play the TCG and the Pokemon TCGO guide didn't explain enough, so I was wondering if I could got to a prerelease, pay, get all the packs and stuff, but not play TCG? That, or is their someone who has a good video on how to play the TCG for Black and White?

EDIT: I'm gonna go to prerelease and try my best. I think TCGO taught me enough of the basics to play. Mods can close this if you want! :D

Yeah, that is possible. In your first game, draw a card, and scoop. Then drop from the tournament.

I wouldn't recommend it, but if you want to, that is how.

You won't get the two extra Booster Packs if you don't complete the Prerelease Tournament, though.

At my league, as long as you turn in the energy you do.

I was thinking about this too... Would be more frustrating for you guys who play if someone dropped, or if they flat out didn't know how to play but tried anyway?

If i was you, I'd play it out. It's a fun enviroment and really frinedly since there's nothing on the line, and you could probably learn how to play from tehere. Just my 2 cents (; You may loose all games, but you can always say you tried and believe me, you'll have fun.

I'd be careful about dropping early out TO was handed a fine and cut resources for allowing people to drop early.

I'll probably try that. I hope I'll get an opponent who understands and won't flip out if I do one or two things wrong. I know the basics, and I'll try practicing on TCGO.

The prerelease on Saturday was the first real Pokémon event I've been to in over a decade. I'm decent with the rules, but still somewhat slow. For each of my games, I told my opponents in advance that I was fairly new and might be slow and each of them was very kind and understanding. From what I've seen, Pokémon players seem to be generally pretty good-natured, so I hope you'll try and give it your best. I thought it was a great experience, and I look forward to attending another one!

Your League's not following the rules, then. :/

From the OP Prerelease Tournaments FAQ.

11.2. Withdrawing from a Limited-Format Tournament
The minimum number of rounds that a player must participate in for a Limited tournament is determined by the Tournament Organizer. If the player drops prior to that, that player may be denied any participation prizes he or she would have received had that player continued to play in the event.

My understanding is that completing the event = completing the required number of rounds.

However, Glaceon, I don't recall any situation recently in which a player scooped R1, dropped, and then got the packs. Can you send me a PM about the specific incident, if this did happen?

It's actually your first game, as long as you do not scoop.

No, it's second game. I actually went to prerelease and asked my TO. She said that you have to play at least two games to get your two packs.

It is the first. Tons of people at my PR did it.

I can't imagine someone flipping out at a new trainer. I'm sure it's happened (rarely) before, but trust me, it's not something to worry about.

If you've played a few battles online then you should know enough to play in a non competitive format. Trust me, it's a blast to get away from the meta-game for a few leisurely battles.
