Standard Golisopod/Weavile

Here's a deck that utilizes a different Pokémon with Golisopod other than the standard Garbodor and Zoroark variants we tend to see. I think Weavile is an interesting partner for Golisopod. It has free retreat and an attack that softens up Pokémon for Golisopod to knock out, or it KOs Pokémon that have already been heavily damaged. While Garbodor locks abilities and can take big OHKOs and Zoroark offers a little more mobility with decent attack damage, Weavile offers something the other two don't, which is spread damage capable of getting multiple knock outs. Golisopod usually can't OHKO things on it's own so that's where Weavile comes in. I also believe that this variant has a slightly better match-up against Volcanion, since one Rule of Evil brings Volcanion within KO range of First Impression. The match-up can still be rough, but it does give you a better chance. We've all seen how devastating damage spread can be in this format, and I think pairing it with an tanky offensive threat like Golisopod is worth looking at.

Sounds like a really cool idea. The only issues that I have with this (and that I ran into during my league cup last weekend), is that Wimpod has an ability. If you use brigette to set up your bench and you have a weavile active, you'll be almost KOing all of your Wimpod! You would have to evolve them immediately and if your opponent has Tapu Koko promo, its lights out for all of your Wimpod. Plus, evolving your already damaged wimpod will leave you vulnerable and if someone has Po Town, your Golisopod will start with 120 HP @_@

I like the concept behind this deck! I think you can replace the rainbow energy with grass energy since Espeon and Weavile only need a colorless energy to attack with. I don't know if you'll need a 3-3 line of Weavile. I see similar Zoroark Variants play 2-2 lines which will free up some space for more consistency cards. I'd also recommend another choice band with so many free retreaters. A choice band Weavile can do 2HKO an active 180HP EX/GX. It'll probably take some play testing to check how the counts work out.

My recommendation:
-3 Rainbow Energy
-1 Sneasel
-1 Weavile

+3 Grass Energy
+1 Heavy Ball
+1 Choice Band

That's why I run Mr. Mime, to stop the damage on my side.

Yeah, Rainbow Energy was something I was trying. My reasoning was to put 10 damage on Golisopod just in case I needed to use Acerola if I got stuck. I thought about a 2-2 line as well so I'll try it out!

However, isn't there a second wimpod with no ability? Even though it doesn't have a free retreat (it has a one colorless attack that lets it retreat), it has no ability either...
