google Box for cities :D (donphan, reuniclus, vileplume)

Hi, cities is this saturday for my area and i really need help for my google as i am missing few essential cards in the deck.

Pokemon:
2-2 donphan prime (phanpy hgss)
1-1 SEL (suicune entei legend)
3-2-2 reuniclus (solosis and duosion from b/w)
3-2-2 vileplume
1 cleffa
1 pichu
1 zekrom
1 reshiram
1-1 blissey prime
1-1 steelix prime

Trainers:
4 pokemon collector
4 twins
2 PONT
2 N
2 seeker
3 communication
3 rare candy

Energy:
4 rainbow
4 fighting
4 dce

Strategy: Use donphan as a main attacker and get cheap prizes with earthquake or heavy impact. Reuniclus is to move the damage away from donphan to avoid getting killed. Vileplume is for trainer lock. SEL is to snipe down reuniclus, and other havoc creating pokemon. The dragons are there as damage sponges and to k.o pokes like gothitelle, yanmega, etc. Steelix prime is there to counter vvv or kyurems

Now onto the problems: I need to find space for a 1-1 line of blissey prime.

ALL HELP IS APPRECIATED :D

i might consider that, but problem is that, it seems like my meta holds quite alot of eelektrik/ magnezone and magnezone can be really hard to deal with

Magnezone is a really big threat to The Truth, because that unlimited damage cap is just asking for trouble. You really need to play smart to take the win against a well built and well piloted Magnezone deck.

I don't really like Donphan as a pure counter for it here, but thats my own bias against the card talking. Being unable to KO a clean Magnezone without using 3 Fighting/Rainbow Energy to charge Heavy Impact, and still being at risk of losing all that if they have a Second Magnezone ready, or if they're utilising the very problematic Kingdra Prime tech, which reduces the amount of Energy they need to Lost Burn by one.

Donphan will certainly help you, but you really need to have the Vileplume on the field fast, and stop them from getting that Magnezone out via Candies. I'd suggest adding a much thicker supporter line and tightening your list.

-1 Gloom/Cleffa
-1 Pichu
-1 Dragon (I suggest Kyurem, but go with your preference)

-4 Pokemon Communication
-1 Switch

+1 Chansey
+1 Blissey Prime

+1 N
+3 Proffessor Oak's New Theory
+2 Proffessor Elm's Training Method

The Extra Draw supporters give you all those extra options in the early game, and N is a brilliantly disruptive card at any stage of the game. I personally love it in The Truth, as well as Gothitelle. By the same token, I dislike PokeCom, as it is just counterproductive when used in Trainer Lock decks. PETM is not for everyone, but I enjoy it. You can use those slots to accomodate Blissey Prime if you choose, but I'm not so sure about tipping the balance that far towards your pokemon (29 Pokemon is a lot). Use your own judgement here. The extra Fire Energy lets you power up Bursting Inferno slightly easier, and you can relax your Rainbow Energy dependance slightly.

But even then, I think that if your Meta is saturated with Magnezone, I would consider not running The Truth for cities. It is a really difficult deck to pilot for the entire day, and Magnezone is its hardest matchup, especially for variants that utilise Jirachi to break your Lock and turn your Damage manipulation against you. Their uncapped Damage Ceiling is a huge asset for them, as they can breeze straight past your defenses. How much have you tested Magnezone/Elektrik/Vileplume or Primetime? Are you confident that you can play the Matchup well, especially if you're expecting lots of them.

If not...well, I might have to suggest not playing The Truth at all. To me, The Truth is the deck that relies so heavily on prior testing to an event; you need to know your matchups against the decks you're expecting inside and out, especially the ones that give you trouble. I'd pilot an untested TyRam decklist for a Cities, but I wouldn't play The Truth unless I'd played (at least) 10 games of every matchup I expected to meet on the day.

Also, just out of interest, why Steelix Prime? It would have been my first choice for drops, but I'm curious as to why you're running it. If its not crucial, I'd put the Dragon back in along with the Gloom/Cleffa when replacing cards for the Blissey line, but I'm just unsure as to why you're using it right now.

This list has been pretty effective for me but I would like some more fighting

vareki: So far i have tested against gothitelle, cake/ cke, eelektrikzone. I found myself sitting at a rather comfortable position for the matchup's so far. I still need to test against tyram, zpst, vvv. But so far, the matchup for me against goth is: 8W 2L, CKE: 8W 2L. But for eelektrikzone, the score was around 6W 4L where one of the win was when the eelektrikzone had a bad hand. Anyways, i really like your feedback. From your suggestions, i decided to go with -1 switch -1 kyurem for 1-1 blissey prime. Steelix prime is there to counter kyurem and vvv.

Kiefer: I really like your decklist, but the only thing i might disagree with is your energy count which i find quite low in a lock deck. Only my 2 cents.

Updated List:-1 kyurem, -1 switch, -1 rare candy, -1 communication, -1-1 donphan prime
+1-1 blissey prime, +2 seeker, +2 PONT

I'm not sure I agree with Steelix as a Kyurem counter; it can't OHKO it, or even 2HKO it without using an attack that costs MMMCC, a cost you simply cannot afford to pay. The same problem arises for VvV (although its irrelevant in that case, since Steelix's body makes it ignore Vaniluxe's most potent attribute; near guaranteed paralysis), Steelix just doesn't have the power to punch through both those Pokemon.

Now, if you want to keep a Steel attacker to swiftly end the threat of Kyurem or Vaniluxe (although I wouldn't be too worried about the latter, it is still in the early stages of testing and I doubt many refined and powerful lists will be making their way to Cities. And besides, you can't tech against everything. Your best way of winning the VvV matchup is to make your deck as good as possible, and as consistent as possible. Steelix Prime, unfortunately, contributes very little to your deck outside of this matchup, and since it is such a small matchup...well, yeah) I would suggest utilising Cobalion or the ever useful Scizor Prime. Either of them can swiftly KO a Glaciating Kyurem, and will pull their weight in other matchups.

Now, in regards to your testing, The Magnezone matchup is always hard for this deck, and indeed any deck that relies on tanking through hits, because it breaches the Damage ceiling with ease. Tanking doesn't work against it, so you really need to play hard and be on your best against them, because misplays hurt so badly.

But not testing against either TyRam or ZPST? That is a huge blunder, I think. You will be seeing them more than anything else at cities, because they are tried and true, incredibly powerful, and even with a favourable matchup against them, you can't neglect the threat they are to you. Those are both matchups that you should know inside out, especially if you're taking a deck that relies so much on you making the right plays at the right time. The Truth doesn't go on Autopilot until victory is yours (not necessarily when you take your last prize; Sending up a 5 Energy SEL against Reshiram wins you the game, for instance, even if it takes a while).

So yeah, definitely test against them before you take this to Cities.
