RE: Haiku Contest VI (2? slots remaining)

Updated. There are still two more slots left open if anyone new wants to enter. If no-one new does in a day or two, I may close signups for this round, but still allow the remaining two entrants to get their submissions in (or at least one to get a submission in, and the other to resubmit something that matches the theme somewhat...if not, he'll be out for the round).

RE: Haiku Contest VI (2? slots remaining)

I see that lunchtime has become a childhood comfort >.<

but, if we close tomorrow, we would be able to get it done faster, I would say that you close the entries tomorrow, so that we can get another one going, these are really fun!

RE: Haiku Contest VI (2? slots remaining)

Hey Apollo, great job on the popularity on this! :D I hope to see many more like this! :D

RE: Haiku Contest VI (Public sign-ups closed/Private entries taken until tomorrow)

@BlastBurn: The popularity of this one had to do with the fact that it actually got advertised in the Portal, which should have been the case before but I got lazy about informing Shining Raikou that these were still going on.

From here on out, if the contest threads sit for more than a day without any new signups, I'll be closing public ones but still accept new entries via PM only. People who signup before that can still add their poems here without consequence. Anyone else, though, will have to talk to me directly or their entries won't be counted. To this point, I've granted people that much leeway, but I'm going to be at least a little stricter about enforcing the contest rules. I know most people are good about following them, but the few who don't have to learn to do so.

RE: Haiku Contest VI (Voting begins now!)

My apologies for the delay on this, but I didn't have a chance to start voting until now. The rules are the same as usual. Everyone on PB is allowed to vote for up to three favorite haikus in the poll I've created, but contestants aren't allowed to vote for their own. If I catch anyone doing so, I'm just going to remove a point from their place on the poll.

RE: Haiku Contest VI (Voting begins now!)

Apollo, I thought you were usually on the case.
Gatr's haiku is 4-5-4. Way off. :/

RE: Haiku Contest VI (Voting begins now!)

I wish someone would've pointed it out ahead of time because it's easy to lose track of so many random entries... I'll allow it on the technicality that he actually got it in for the moment, but I may or may not count it as disqualified by the end of voting (right now I have it marked as such with strikethroughs, but I may remove them later depending on how voting goes).[/s]

RE: Haiku Contest VI (Voting begins now!)

Thanks. And, while I have my critical hat on, PikachuRocks' Haiku is 5-7-6. xD

RE: Haiku Contest VI (Voting begins now!)

From here on out, I don't think I'll be so quick to discriminate against entries a syllable or two short, so long as it has some tie-in with the theme. Originally, I intended to allow any short poems enter, but changed it to mostly haikus so that people wouldn't be turned off by the notion they had to write full-fledged poetry when they really didn't.

RE: Haiku Contest VI (Voting begins now!)

Sunday. I've been trying to allow for three days for voting so that one round ends about the same time a new one begins, since this has been a continuous event so far.

RE: Haiku Contest VI (Voting begins now!)

No problem, but I should also mention I usually close it around (or, sometimes, before) noon on those days.

Yeah, it was. I usually try to leave polls open until either just before I leave for church or get back from it. At this point, I think we've gotten as many votes as we're going to, which is a lot in comparison to the previous rounds.

In any case, the results are in! Congrats, Absol101! You've won with a total of six votes. Likewise, good job, P0KEVORTEX and BlastBurn, for both of your poems coming in a close second!
